OBX High Flow Cat - Just bought one, how loud are they with stock exhaust?
Just bought an OBX high flow cat which to me looks like a test pipe. Anyways, atleast it still has perforations inside which appear to deaden the sound.
Just want to know if anyone has personally heard what a straight-thru cat sounds like on a STOCK exhaust/catback setup? by the way, i have a 96 EK.

It may produce some awful smells but I don't really recall the sound changing too much at all. Btw, I have a Skunk2 catback which is loud as hell as it is and i'm running a straight pipe for a cat.
it shouldn't be that loud,i mean i have straight pipe (no cat) with a OBX muffler n it's not as loud as you'd think

Well I know the MAJORITY of OBX products are ****. But i got a great deal for this OBX resonated cat and it was brand new.
Not only that, when I look inside it, I didn't believe how they actually took the time and effort to make perforations to reduce noise. Also, the construction of the cat seems sturdy...its not like its a piece of **** thats gonna dent.
Plus, the cat is just a damn pipe. Its not like its a moving part or a stressful part like an exhaust manifold where that **** will probably crack (obx one).
certains things I would go OBX. Like right now I have an OBX gauge dash pod and that works great! It was cheap too.
i was checking up on other threads and it appears there are people who are very happy with OBX catbacks. They said it was easy to install and love the sound, not ricey.
Go figure.

No offense taken. Well i'm no OBX expert so i dont know of many things that they make. I'd probably try out their LSD. Their exhaust manifolds and intake manifolds look very nice and i've seen a guy run it around here and it worked great. & no OBX is not ssautochrome which is something that most people think. If they made an intake i'd try it. Alot of their exhaust components seem decent. All of these things i'd at least consider... i mean theres so many manufactures out there that i take a look at everything and pick out what I like. I could name off a thousand company's that I dont represent.
I usually try to find a product with alot of feedback, i havent found too much OBX feedback just alot of "hearsay". You could do alot worse is what i'm saying.
Heres the intake manifold

Heres the exhaust manifold, looks very nice to me, & it's made from SUS304.

Heres another exhaust manifold.

If you have any threads of OBX stuff taking a **** post it up, cause i really havent heard too much about OBX either way in the essence of actual proof.

wow because i'm not payin out my *** for a damn muffler? yes wow is rightfully suited, for those people who pay $300 plus for a damn muffler, not for those of us who would rather spend the extra cash on something that actually adds power. mufflers are aesthetic.
obx is very low quality stuff there welds are know to break i wouldent touch any ob stuff i bought a sohc intake manifold for my del sol b4 i sold it . it never worked it had a million leaks and some of the oem stuff thats bolts to it like the thermoustat housing doesnt evan fit obx
It took two responses to answer the question. The rest of this thread is useless.
This very post is useless.. but I must say I'm happy with my used crappy (and well... very inexpensive) OBX cam gear that I have entrusted my valvetrain too. Additionally I'm happy with my OBX exhaust. Sounds great. Maybe because my turbo quiets things down. Welds look just as good as my friends Invidia by the way.
I detect the typical if you ain't got money fo JdM shizz yO... you might aswell drive a minivan.
