There were a couple of TSB's for tranny grumbling under deceleration.... nothing big..... There was a recall related to the spark plugs for at least 2000 S2000's.....

I drove my 2000 S2000 24k tortured miles and never had even 1 problem..... i drove a 2001 s2000 about 10k miles and did have the tranny TSB done (only because the dealer was looking for some easy warranty work) and my 2001 also had the power steering sensor go bad....

i have not heard of any other big problems with any year s2000..... people bitch about the weak rear end, but that is usually after they have done 40 big burnouts and something breaks.

I took both of my S2000's drag racing and to the road course and still didn't break anything.

edit - I do think some 2001's had a big problem with the #4 cylinder.... the cylinder walls would score and a new block would have to be installed...... i think most of them did it relatively early in life though.?

My 2001 that i currently race had something similar happen with the #1 cylinder, but I think it was due to oil starvation and not really a flaw.... I have a baffled oil pan now.

Only issue we've had at all is the massive amounts of brake dust we experienced for about 2,000miles after buying the car...it eventually lessened in amount over time, and now pushing 10K...other than that its been a joy.

good stuff, just what i was looking for

and im not be negative, just cautious, S2000 arent cheap cars, so im not about to go spend all that money to find they have a bunch of small things that go wrong, or have weak parts that need to be replaced

anyway i plan on buying one that is still well within its factory warrenty and purchasing an extended warrenty, so i should be cool

o and that baffeled oil pan thing, i whouldnt need that if im just using the car as a daily driver, and some weekend backroad fun whould I ? i might just get one to be safe
