Right now I'm in a battle with my body shop and insurance company about some replacement leather seats that the body shop put in my car after it got stripped. They couldn't find any new leather seats from Acura or any used seats from junkyards. They finally found a local part shop that took used cloth seats and re-manufactured them with brand new leather. The estimate for my original leather seats was $9300, and the price for the re-manufactured seats was about $6300. So I figured that I was saving $3000. This is all before I got into this forum, where I found that many people were selling their used leather seats for around $1000. Once I saw this I was so in pissed off at the part shop and auto body shop, for trying to me in the ***. So I tried to cancel the order but they all said "Oh it's too late.....we already ordered parts....they're your seats.......too bad....just gives us the money......etc." I even offered to pay for the labor costs but they wouldn't accept it. So after 3 1/2 weeks my seats were finally done. Last week I had a chance to see these wonderful seats that are costing me $6000, for the first time. To my suprise they looked like in . The plastic molding on the bottom where the tilt lever is was all scaped and scarred to . The leather didn't look too bad but you could tell something was wrong with them. What I need from you guys is some help......I need some pictures of original 98 GSR leather seats so I can compare them to the so called new seats and prove to my insurance company that the new seats aren't anything like the original. I would prefer that the pics be of tan leather seats but any color will do. I thank all of you guys in advance, for its because of this forum that I didn't get royaly ed in the *** in the first place. So thanks to all you for all your help.

 

good god those are some expensive seats.............. you could have had a whole custome interior for half the price you paid to get those seats.......... i dont have any picts but you can probably find some on http://www.ebay.com or ww.thepartstrader.com form people trying to sell their stoock seats

Well here's a pic of my 98 GS seats from the side (sorry best shot I got)... The side bolsters dont stick out and hug u as well as the GSRs... I just wanted to point out the difference between a GSR and a GS/LS leathers just in case that shady shop got even more shady and got you LS seats instead of real GSRs...

Why the hell did you get the same seats as before (for what is basically the price of a used Teg) when you could've gotten some wicked aftermarket ones for a fraction of the cost?!?!?!?!?

 

LMAO... hey since my 4door is purple dont mean its driven by a girl! LOL... its not a hair tie or scrunchy (sp) It's actually a small mini rosary (Mom got it for me from PI). Had to keep something in my car that would keep me safe from all those other reckless drivers...

When my car got stripped I wasn't really into the whole car modding scene, so I really wasn't sure of what seats to get. I really missed my car, and I just wanted to have my old seats back. The insurance company and body shop just wanted to replace the original seats, so I went along with em. If I could do it over though I would for sure get some tight racing seats, like some sparco's or something. But since I wasn't very educated in cars I didn't know any better. When I get this whole situation taken care of I plan on getting a in sweet set of aftermarket seats. In the past couple months I've learned tons of about Tegs. Now I can't wait until I get it back so I can start upgrading the out of it.

 

6000 US dollars? Woah......that's some rape.
Almost new gsr seats go for 500~700. From a GSR coupe that is. For a sedan I thought it'd be only double that at the most. Installing front seats are quite easy if you got the necessary tools.

Anyways, real RECARO's (front only) go for 2000 brand new. Those are some top quality seats.
Sparco and other brand are good also for a cheaper price.

Hey, after looking at that pic I just remembered that the new seats that they're putting in my car don't have those ***** on the bottom of the seat by the tilt lever. The so-called new seats only have the lever...nothing else. Do you guys happen to know what year these seats could possibly be. I'm thinking that the seats are from an earlier model year Integra. Any ideas?

 

BRAND NEW SET - Leather GSR Black seats...original acura from dealership $2300 CANADIAN, which is $1428 for the complete set. Sorry buddy, they ripping you off hardcore...i bought mine for $700 canadian, reconditioned them with lots of lotion and did the complete conversion for less then $1k canadian ($621 us)

 

Does anyone know if any GSR's come with cloth seats? I don't think that the seats that they re-manufactured could even be GSR seats. I thought that the only seats in GSR's were leather. Am I wrong?

 

gsr's did come with cloth seats (94-95?). can't remember the year when leather became standard.

 

My 98 GSR have cloth seats. It was 99 and up when it became standard.

Because thats the whole basis of my arguments right now.....that the seats aren't original GSR seats. Anyone looking at selling their used tan 98+ GSR leather seats? Make me an offer because I have a feeling that I'm going to be looking for some pretty soon.

 

You got raped w/ the price! Even the Top Fuel Limited Edition Recaros doesnt cost that much!

Before you do any modifications w/ your car, why wont you ask the H-T.com people first!

But be careful who you deal with, some bad folks are just trying to steal your money--literally.

The seats with the ***** are 98~01 seats. Earlier seats came with just a lever. Damn, wish my seats had those *****, I want height adjustable seats.

I'm happy to announce that I finally won the battle with my seats. My whole argument was that the replacement seats weren't 98 GSR seats and they weren't what I ordered. With the pictures and input from you guys and other friends of mine, I convinced myself that I wasn't going to back down until the body shop realized that they were getting ripped off by the company that they ordered the seats from.

After arguing face to face with the head body shop dude he still was not convinced that they were the wrong seats. He proceded to call the company that made the seats and asked if they were 98 GSR seats. The company said "Yeah we pulled em out of a 98 GSR." The only difference they thought between the 2 different seats were the height adjust ***** on the side of the seat. So the seat manufactuer was going to order the DoEs AnYoNe KnOw WheRe I CaN GeT SoMe StRObE LiTEZ AnD LiGhT uP WiNdShiElD NoZzLeS??in *****. That DoEs AnYoNe KnOw WheRe I CaN GeT SoMe StRObE LiTEZ AnD LiGhT uP WiNdShiElD NoZzLeS??in pissed me off like a mother DoEs AnYoNe KnOw WheRe I CaN GeT SoMe StRObE LiTEZ AnD LiGhT uP WiNdShiElD NoZzLeS??, so I asked for the number to the body shop dudes manager.

The body shop I took it to was part of car dealership, so he gave me the number of the dealership owner. I called up the owner and left a message saying how DoEs AnYoNe KnOw WheRe I CaN GeT SoMe StRObE LiTEZ AnD LiGhT uP WiNdShiElD NoZzLeS??ed up the whole process was so far and to do something about it. I never heard back from him, but a couple days later the body shop dude called me and wanted to know what was going on. I told him that I left a message with the owner saying that I wanted him to do something. He then told me that the seat manufacter now was saying that the seats came out of a 98 Integra, but they weren't sure if it was a GSR. Then I told him that I had pictures of the 98 seats and they weren't the same as the new ones. I also said I had the official service manual, and I called 2 local Acura dealerships and they all said that there was only one model of seat for all 98 Integras. So after I explained my case to him for the 700th time. He finally gave in and said that they'd send the seats back, and that I wouldn't have to pay for em.

So I just like to say thank you to all of the people who took their time and tried to help me out in my situation. It's partly because of you guys that I didn't get raped on those seat prices.....Thanks for saving my ***.

In the end, I ended up with about $9000 to spend on brand new seats and other upgrades to my teg. Quite a bit of money for what happened, but I guess it was worth it.
