Why would a p13 ecu not work for my h22a???
I have a 92 jdm h22a in my 98 hb and just got a obd1 (maybe) p13 ecu but the car sounds like ****, its running idle at 200 rpm steady and hesitates when gased. And there black **** (fuel I guess) spraying out of the exhaust. Any Ideas?
did it work before you plugged in the p13? its most likely something else.
I actually had the same exact symptoms you described once, and it was caused by a loose ground.
EDIT: I didn't have 'black **** shooting out the exhaust.' check your firing order, valve timing (sounds like you could possibly be off by one tooth), distributor wiring, grounds.

yeah, I had a chipped p28 in it and it ran fine exept for vtec engaging at 6700 rpm??? I talked to a guy who said a p72 is the better ecu to go with on a h22a swap so Im gonna try that and see what happens. He also said that having the bigger fuel injectors might be the case. I have the black ones.

Idle problems, hesitation, and black **** all sound like timing issues. Put a timing light on it with the p13. I had the same prob before when I switched ecus. I had a chipped p28, and my ignition timing changed when i put the p13 in. It hesistated so badly that the belt jumped a tooth. Redo your timing, it worked for me.
