Short shifter
I don't have enough time to search it up because I'm burried in homework. I'm planning on putting a short shifter on my Ej1 but 1st things 1st. What is the difference between the short shifter kit which comes w/ a couple other parts including the short shifter stick, than just buying the short shifter stick all by itself? I'm not a drag racer or anything, I just don't like touching my stock 20'' hard-on anymore after driving my friends car which had a short shifter. Also what is a good quality brand for cheap? if it makes any difference at all on which one I choose to get. Last but not least how is the installation part?...considering I don't have experience should I have someone install it? W/e help you can give will help.

What would I need to buy? the kit (which includes more items than just the actual shifter) or could I just get the actual short shifter stick buy itself and just install that w/o needing anything else?

most short shifter I've seen usually compose of the shifter and those rubber O-rings and that's it. now if you buy the extras like poly-urthane bushings then of course it will cost more. All I bought was the skunk2 shift kit, installed it and that was it no problems what's so ever. Didn't have to buy anything else with it.

Yep, Evasive SS is nice. Just put one in my girlfriends car like 2 weeks ago w/ some es bushings. It sits lower, way closer shifts and is kind of heavy so it shifts smooth. And its only like 35 bucks! Just look in the sponsers perfomance section.
make sure to get new bushings
makes a world of a difference
I tryed skunk2 and B&M
B&M was too short i though..
Skunk 2 had a 2 dual bend, I loved it
so I bough a Stock GSR Shifter (dual bend) for 20$

I've had DC Sports, Skunk2, and Edelbrock in my car... I currently have the Edelbrock shifter because I like the compund bend that moves the shift pattern towards the driver...
It seemed like with the DC shifter I had to reach for 5th gear because it's so short, but with the Edelbrock, my 5th is where 3rd used to be
I liked the Skunk2 as well because it's heavy and super strong, it made the shifts feel really great and solid... I wish the Skunk2 shifter had a compound bend like the Edelbrock!
BTW, the Skunk2 doesn't sit any lower than stock so it's not really a "short" shifter, more of a "short throw" shifter because it only shortens the throw and makes the shifts more solid...
Oh, and it's super easy to instal one, don't pay someone to do it for you... there are a million write ups on how it's done...

I have the skunk 2 dual bend. Its a very nice piece especially with their shift ****. Very fluid. I recommend the upgraded bushings as well.
I am however considering moving to the b&m with the billet pivot cup as the rubber craphole on mine is worn and torn and just crappy in general. I dont know many that run it, but have heard nothing but good things.
