what did u do about the hydaulic tranny cause that just seems like its gunna be a bunch of problems so i was originally considering the Y1 cable as a keeper but was weary of how the mechanical speedsensor would work with the computer that has a electrical

use the 1st gen b16a w/ the cable tranny..get obd0 or obd1 depending if your car is a 90-91 or 92-93...

you can convert cable to hydro, but its crappy. as for the speed sensor, the cable has a vss in it and a cable driven speedo. the DA needs a cable driven speedo. the best thing to do with what you have is: buy a b16a (obd0 cause its cheaper then just use obd1 plugs on the dizzy and obd1 injectors from the LS and find an obd1 vtec ecu). the next best thing to do would be buy an LS long block to put in the DA while you build the other long block.

using a gsr or b16 w/ the LS trans sucks, what makes vtec motors (especially the b16's) as crazy as they are isn't just the motor, the transmissions they have are shorter than the LS's trans.

besides that fact, gsr's and b16a2's are just expensive motors. obd1 and beyond are expensive, obd0 motors are cheap and easy to find

but im really leaning towards this b16a2 and i heard the first gen is about as fast as the newer ones but ... u were saying the y1 cable b16a2 is a bad idea i dont really understand why it is a bad i dea.. i want a reliable engine that has more potential than the LS yet still in a resonable price range and the b16a2 seems to fit each adn every one of those unless u are still indifferent about the idea, i just need to get rid of my motor cause i have really ******* tore it up in hte past and it needs a re-build bad

the b16a2 is the motor out of the 99-00 SI. that motor is hydro tranny and obd2. USDM a2's are normally sold as a swap in the range of 2000. the obd0 b16a that you find on websites as a "jdm" swap is the cheapest. it goes for 1100+shipping full swap. it comes w/ the cable clutch tranny you need. the reason i say the jdm y1 is stupid is because it comes w/ a whacked out gearset and a 4.266 final. the j1/s1 comes with a 4.4 final and a nice gearset.
