acceleration and deceleration... might be a motor mount. get under the car and look at your ball joints. ball joint clunks usually happen to me when running over curbs and what not. look at all four mounts on the motor. its more than likely the front or rear. if the inner has ripped out (which is common) you can use the few brands of inserts to fix, you can fill it with urethane yourself that you pick up from home improvement stores, or you can buy new mounts.

if it is your ball joint: check out the honda ball joint press before you go beating on it with BFH's

i would not recommend heating up the inards to take them out, to get them hot enough usually you'll melt some away then they wont sit wherever you want to put them (if your taking good ones out of one mount and setting it into the mount you have thats bad).

the urethane from a home improvement store comes in a calking tube so you'd need a calking gun. i usually find it right by the front counter. one of the brand names for it is "wind-o-weld" its builders multipurpose adhesive and on the label it will say "urethane". i've used this method a few times and if you need info on how to do it let me know. it works great and it fits back in the stock bracket way better than inserts (since insert make the mount fatter) plus its WAY cheaper.

i just used this to help my buddy fix his MR2 rear E mount and the bottle says forms permanent bond in 48 hours so im stll waiting till its complete but it looks like a charm( maybe not the color) but fits up to old one perfectly.... would u consider using this to replace engine mounts or they have a really nice kind that "drys like cement" and it is also a urethane caulk guyler.

I have the same clunk too. It clunks after accerlating and decelerating hard. For instance, if i gas my car in first gear, and i let off, i can hear a clunk come from the driver side area. I already tried installed ES motor mount inserts, but the clunk is still there. If you found a way to solve the problem, please pm me!
