No such thing unless it's a new feature in the 2006 Civics.

Bore out a D17 to a 1.8 and restamp it and you have a D18.

Hmm... I didn't know the 1.7's from 01+ civics was still a d series. I wasn't expecting to learn anything from this thread...

It's a D-series engine the same way that an LS1 is a Chevy small block: it carries the name, but the parts aren't interchangeable with past models. You might be able to slap a TB on something earlier in the series, but the head and the ignition, etc. will not convert without heavy modification.

Archidictus-

Do you KNOW that the D17 cannot interchange heads with earlier D series? I've been trying to track down someone who has proof that this is the case...Please PM me if you have information.

What is known is that the D17 crank will swap to a D16 block
D17 Stoker Project

Meaning - pistons, rods etc. can "interchange" in the correct configuration.

Oh, and you can get a 1.8D, heck all the way up to 2.0L if you got the cash:

R&D Dyno Service - D series products

But, as stated, it won't be a D18 unless you restamp it.

I knew that, that's why I didn't think it it would be a D-series, but good example with the LS1.
