Default Frontend Conversion - Headlight Wiring help.

My frontend conversion will be going on in a month or so, but I'm stumped as to how I should wire the headlights. The Lowbeams i imagine will be the same as they are now. The Turn Signal will also be the same, but second turn signal bulb will go to the sidemarker. But what about the foglamp and the highbeam? Do I use that brown connector on the back of the headlight?

If so, how do i go about doing so?

Thanks for any replies.

Irrelivent. IM him if you want his stuff.

To the topic at hand, are you expecting to run the foglights to another switch? Or do you want them to come on when you flip on the headlights? This is easier than you think I'll be waiting for your post and we can go from there.

I would prefer to have it run on the JDM foglight switch, only problem is where would I put it? I have cruise control in my car.

What I would really like to do is have them wired up to a switch and be able to come on with just my park lamps. Because I have HID's in my car and don't turn them on during the beginning stages of nightfall, I use the fogs. I currently have OEM fogs wired up to my parklamps with no extra switch. When the park lamps come on, the fogs come on.

Thanks.

don't really kno what ur tryin to do w/ the fogs. But use the connector on theback of the jdm light. Just get some female connectors, i think there 'spade' or something like that. For the lows and highs, just tap your existing pos wire and run it to the plug on the headlight. Turn signals and sidemarkers from the lower turn signal wires that were used on the old front end. The front signal and marker will alternate flash. But note that the turn signals won't act as parking lights anymore, just turn signals. So you could wire up the 'city light' (the little bulb in the highbeam) also.

As far as the fogs, you can have them come on w/ ur lows or parking lights and what not by just tapping power right from them. Or use your switch to turn them on whenever.

I'll see if i can find a picture of the plug, and where everything goes.

For JDM switch for fog, the cruise control is the only way to go or your dimmer (on your right side). If you don't want to get rid of those 2 your only option is the USDM switch which is located under the handbreak.

For the two bulbs in my current bumper lenses, the 1157 bulb and socket will go into the turn signal part of the JDM headlight right? And the Peanut bulb and socket will go into the sidemarker right?

I don't have to use the Connector on the Japanese Headlights for the turn signals and side markers, am I correct?

Low beams I know how to figure out since they plug in the same way as they do in the USDM housing. Just highbeams, fogs and city lights that have me stumped.

For the highbeams, do I have to cut off my current connector and attach spade connectors to the ends? If so, I know where the positive would go, but the connector has a 'common ground'. How would I ground the fogs and the highbeams to the same connector?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks a lot.

The 1157's actually aren't a direct fit. The 2 tabs on either side of the base are directly opposite sides of each other. The bulb that goes in have the tabs a bit offset. You can either sand down the tabs, or buy a bulb @ advance auto. The bulb i got was a 3000 something. It was packaged as a 'euro' bulb or something for BMW's and whatnot.

No i don't think theres a prong for turn signals. Just wire them both right into your current signal wire. Just play around w/ them until you get it right.

You can cut it off if you want. Or just tap into the wire. As far as the ground theres one prong on each connector that is dedicated to a ground. So you don't have to ground each and every light.
So just run a wire from that to a good ground, or your battery. Just make sure its a good one, otherwise the hids don't like to work right.

Sorry to thread jack but I was just wondering if the side markers are supposed to stay on, or only blink with the corners?

they are really only supposed to blink with the corners. You can do it either way. Stay on and blink, or just blink. I personally don't like them on all the time.

B18C5er: theres a pic here : http://tech.wiredspeed.com/jdm_front.asp that shows what the prongs on the connector are.

Hope that helps

Thanks, I was at that site before. I was just a little confused as to how I would mate the stock harness and the JDM harness together.

I understand hooking up all of the positive connections, but the grounds I am still kind of confused about. How do i use the common ground to ground several wires?

Sorry, but I didn't understand how you stated it above.

Thanks.

Ok, I have a follow up question. Since I don't have an OEM switch for the fogs, what can I use instead as a temporary solution? And how would I go about wiring it up?

The conversion is getting done in about 6 weeks and I want to make sure I have everything planned out to the dot before I take it in.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I did search, but i later realized i didn't set the option for archived data.

Right now I have my fogs spliced into my Park Lamps. So when i turn on my Park Lamps the fogs turn on. Can I continue to use this method but just wire up a switch inline to that? It would work just the same as I have it now, right?

Thanks.

if you follow the diagram on the link for the foglights, there will only be power to the fogs when the parking lights are on. (This is the way it should be...)

Why? I had my fog lights hooked straight to a constant source before, but you know what? you will always forget to turn off the switch! and because they are not hooked up to the parking lights they will not Chime if you leave them on.

Just follow the instructions on the link they are great! I did when I wired up mine.

Ya, I have mine hooked up to the park lamps right now. They are always on with the parklamps. I wanted to keep this feature while still being able to turn the fogs on and off.

I have a question regarding this diagram. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=105247

How do I connect both power leads for the foglamps in the JDM headlights to that one blue wire in the diagram?

Thanks.
