i have searched and found ****. i have a 93 civic si hatch. my sunroof is broken and i was wondering if i can replace the sunroof glass with a plexiglass piece instead. i mean the sunroof itself pos out when opened right? there wont be any problems with it hitting the inside of the roof. i do not know if anybody has done this but if somebody has, let me know how. i dont want to plug it or whatever, what the hell for, might as well sell it and get a cx or something. i want it to be functional. i am not about to spend 500 bills on a damn piece of glass. please help me out. thanks

2) yes you can use plexiglass. make sure you get it thick enough

 

i apologize,,,,, awesome, what thickness would be best? would clear or darkened plexiglass be better? what kind glue should i use? im a newbie when it comes to glass

 

my sunroof broke and my windshild broke cuz my hood flew up doin like 90 so i had my window replaced by safelight autoglass and when he wasnt lookin i snagged one of the tubes of black **** they use to put the window in and i used 1/2 inch plex u just have to be careful not to crack it when cuttin.. i went through like 4 pieces..

 

did you have any problems with leaking? how did you do it, you got any pics?

 

yes leakin cuz i sealed it when it was rainin (stupid)
i went to home central/homedepot/lowes which ever one u have and measured my sunroof i think it was 33x13 not to sure it was an after market one the cut it slightly bigger than u want it. i put it over the sunroof used marker to mark where i needed to cut and got a tile cutter as pictured...(5-10 $$s at home depot)
cut(scored) the curve i needed and made sure it was deep enough.. and used needle nose pliars to break off the excess.. used the **** i snagged from satilite and there ur ghetto sun roof....

make sure u whipe off the surface and MAKE SURE ITS DRY... and seal the top and INSIDE..

ps.. piece of plexi cost me about 10$$'s

ima try it on sunday see what happend, i just want it to slide back and foth like stock, not have it blocked off.
