What would be the best chip setup for my B18C
Im in the process of trying to figure out what would be the best custom chip for my car. My current engine setup is pretty stock JDM B18C (10.6:1 comp.), Blox intake mani, Im going to be getting a header and exhaust. My current P28 ecu has a kenji chip in it but its specs arent what I need it has a 900rpm rev limit, 5500rpm vtec crossover, no timing or fuel adjustments. I want something that will run a JDM B18C really well and not sure what to go with as far as rev limit and vtec crossover. What does everyone suggest? I need to get some opinions before I go and buy a new chip for my car.
mm. you dont need any higher of a rev. limit. you need a lower one.
vtec x-over sounds about right; not too off if any.
you want a little more fuel?maybe like 1-2% if that.
Timing? i would not mess with it unless you do steady state tunning.

No I dont want anything anymore expensive than a chip right now that is why im not getting anything else at the time. I just want a decent chip for my setup something that I can throw in there maybe get a little performance gain and not have to worry about over revving my car or anything like that. mmuller's post was pretty good now some others with experience with custom chips needs to chime in also.
Oh by the way I dont do any steady state tunning.

Does anyone see anything in this list of custom chips that they would use or have used in an application like mine?
J's Racing program
VTEC: 4800 or 5200 or 5500 or 6000 or 6500rpm
Rev limit: 8200 or 8400 or 8700 or 9000 or 9500 or 10000rpm
Dyno/Tests: One of the best programs to date. Based on Integra Type R fuel and ignition maps (p73). Excellent gas mileage. Dynoed on a B20VTEC (13:1, ITR cams) made more power through out then Mugen or any other program. For wild 1.8-2.l applications 290-350cc injectors are required (310cc work best). Fine for under 190whp setups with 240-270cc injectors 250-350miles on a tank without running lean.
SuperChip program
VTEC: ~5500rpm
Rev limit: ~8200rpm
Dyno/Tests: Excellent program overall, based heavily on Euro B16A program. Very simliar to stock maps with minor tweaks. 250-350miles on a tank without running lean on B16A motors and stock b18c motors (might require FPR). Does not work on JDM P30/P08 ecu. Knock Sensor disabled
Skunk2 program
VTEC: 4800 or 5200 or 6000rpm
Rev limit: 8400 or 9000 or 10000rpm
Dyno/Tests: Good all around program, works very well on B18C and CRVTEC, runs very rich, (slightly richer then Mugen). Knock sensor disabled.
Feels program
VTEC: 4500 or 5000 or 5700rpm
Rev limit: 8200or 8700rpm or 9000 or 9600rpm
Dyno/Tests: Fairly rich running, ignition maps are only slightly improved. Works well on LS/VTEC and CRV/VTEC.
Mugen program
VTEC: 4500 or 5000 or 5700rpm
Rev limit: 8200 or 8800 or 9000 or 9500rpm
Dyno/Tests: Runs fairly rich, good power. Knock sensor disabled. Excellent program for all out power. On mild applications it tends to run rich.
PYR program
VTEC: 4500 or 5000 or 5700rpm
Rev limit: 8000 or 8700 or 9800rpm
Dyno/Tests: Runs semi-rich, but makes excellent power. On mild applications it seems to be more friendly then Mugen. Gets better then average fuel mielage for a race program. 375-450km on 36l of gas, B16A/B18C application.
Vison program
VTEC: 4800 or 5200rpm
Rev limit: 8700 or 9600rpm
Dyno/Tests: Excellent for LS/VTEC or B20VTEC combo, good power thought out. Fairly aggressive in fuel and ignition maps. Knock sensor disabled.
JUN program
VTEC: 4400 or 5000 or 5700rpm
Rev limit: 8500 or 9200rpm
Dyno/Tests: Runs rather lean before VTEC after it tends to be about 15% richer then stock B18C. Knock sensor disabled.
USDM GSR P72 program
VTEC: 4400rpm
Rev limit: 8000 or 8500 or 9000rpm
Dyno/Tests: Stock USDM program made to work with P28 ECU. Fuel maps, Ignition Knock sensor disabled.
USDM JUN P72 program
VTEC: 4400rpm
Rev limit: 9200rpm
Dyno/Tests: Designed for JUNIII cams and Skunk2 intake + bolt-ons on a B18C1 ECU. About 2-4 degrees of advanced timing over stock ECU and fuel maps improved after VTEC. Even works with about 65 dry NOS shot without much timing changes. Knock sensor disabled.
