for all who have installed Omniman coilovers LOOK!!
my buddy just installed his omniman coilovers (street setup on his 93 hatch) and the front seems to bounce alot. does anyone know how to set a initial on the setup? like how many turns in on the bottom fork in the front? or just a setup that has worked good for ur setup?
thanks Darren

the pre load is supposed to help a lil with the daily driven aspect of the coilovers.... im just going off what my set of omnipower full coils said to do when i installed and i have had no prolems

when you have the car setting on all four wheels the pre-load does NOTHING, in fact it is nullafied

Due to whatever reason, there might've been a large gap between the spring perch and the upper mount allowing for some play in the spring. Correct preloading would take care of that.

Preload doesn't involve moving the tophat at all. Also the spring would not come from the factory compressed at all. Typically the spring perch and its lock are screwed upwards so that the spring isn't totally bouncing up and down, but its not very tight at all, which is where preload comes in. Preload is a very minute adjustment, we're talking about 5mm more or less.
preload *might* be necessary if the spring compresses too much under the car's weight and causes a lack of shock travel and you might be hitting the bumpstops. if you preload, and then use the bottom collar to lower the car, you *might* be able to gain some shock travel, depending on how the coilovers are designed.
that was the problem!! preloading the springs fixed the bounce. And yes without the preload the spring did have a large gap to the tophat
thanks for the help
thanks for the help
glad I could help a bit with your problem.... contrary to what some people may think it is a good thing to pre-load the springs out of the car before install... like was stated it ensures there is no gap between spring and the top hat and allows for full travel of the shock.... enjoy those coils I will be installing mine this friday cant wait
