Default LS to a GSR, really worth it?

For all who've went from driving an LS to a GSR, or at least driven both, how great is the difference? Was it worth it? I've got a 98 ls and was wondering if I should try and sell it to buy a 94-97 GSR. Never having driven one, I'd really appreciate your opinions.

I say yes...I went from that transition and could not ever go back. it may seem only like a 30 hp difference, but in terms of horsepower, thats big.

Just think...if you went from an LS to a Type R it would be close to a 70hp difference All joking aside... A GSR is a very capable car and very fun to drive. Just check my sig: I've owned three

More like a 55 hp difference.

If you want a GSR then there is no question in what you need to do to get one. You will make the sacrifices to own one. I'd suggest 95' They are OBD1 and take mods much easier

You will definitely know the difference! Go for the GS-R!

I have never owned an LS or a GSR, but if I were you, I'd stick with the LS.

Save your money, and safely boost it someday, you know strong the LS blocks are.

Even if you aren't interested in boosting, take care of the intake, header, exhaust situation...

The main reason I say stick with your LS is because its a '98 ... Why go back to the older style (bumpers) of a 94-97 GSR...

Good luck, personally I'd stick the LS

personally I'd stick to an LS...but thats just me...I dont' really get my jollies from 1/4 mile or whatever...so hey you can upgrade the same suspension on a LS...and it won't get stolen for its motor. But most people will tell you GSR

Not to mention the 5spd close ratio transmission which allows quicker/ tighter shifting resulting in minimal rpm loss.

my ls dynoed at 131 whp and 117 trq.... gsr with bolt ons dynoed at 145 and 117... there is a small difference...

i was going to swap the ls for gsr, but for the price, it wasnt worth it... so i am either going lsvtec, b20z, turbo ls.. or juts sell the car if i find a type r!

hold on an ls comes stock at 142 not to the wheels, u said u made 131 whp with a few boltones.... a gsr comes stock 170 not to the wheelsm and with boltones the gsr loses 25 hp, but the ls, which is a weaker engine loses only loses 11hp???

Depends on the car and conditions.

My GSR with nothing but intake and exhaust and 100k miles dynoed at 153whp.

Aside from the 30hp and better tranny, the LS is just like a GSR. If I were the original poster, I would either
A) Turbo the LS
B) LS/VTEC with different tranny.
C) Buy a different car instead of Integra

i have a question about the longevity of those jdm motors that are used for swaps. are they reliable? my brother said those engines will only last anywhere from 30k-40k miles, is that accurate?

I don't think that's accurate, for the most part.

Some places do sell crappy motors, but if you take the time to make sure the place is reputable and/or you check out the motor thoroughly, then it will be just as good as any other motor.

The ls motor suites me just fine, I enjoy autocrossing and track days. I don't have a lot of mods to the motor either, and I still enjoy driving it. I'll get a gsr one of these days maybe, but I'm not in a huge hurry. There are a lot of things you could go into, insurance change (even if it changes, not sure), cost of operation, maybe more of a chance of theft, etc.
