K&N RU-2820 or RU-3130 for stock airbox?
I just made a DIY icebox this weekend and I need to switch out my stock filter. I did countless of searches and I found two choices that I want to go with. Its between the K&N RU-2820 & the RU-3130. The RU 2820 is bigger while the 3130 is tapered off. Which one would you go with? Some say the tapered one is better b/c of the extra space in the airbox allowing air to flow around more freely. And others say the 2820 is better b/c its more fatty. I don't know which is true. Any input? Thanks in advanced for your time.

I just did the 3130 today on my stock airbox...It was only $20 ordered from Autozone...I didn't feel a difference btween this one and the stock one...I didn't even notice a sound difference unless the top box is off...

Use the 2820, you can make it fit 100% like a stock filter does.
I didn't do it for power, I did it for longetivity. I'm still on the same filter that I was using 90K miles ago.

I personally prefer the RU-2820. It is the closest in size to the stock filter. You can attached the white plastic piece (see PatrickGSR94 pictures) which supports the end of the filter). And it has a built-in velocity stack, which aids in smoother airflow into intake tube.
The RU-3130 has a little less surface area than the RU-2820, because of the smaller size.
