Okay, so up here in the Philly area, the local go-kart racing place has specials on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Some of my car friends and I were over there last Tuesday for some merriment (what, you southerners thought you were the only ones who race go-karts to stay sane during the off-season?). After we were done we decided to head out to get something to eat. So we are on our way to Fridays, and we come to a red light with no cars in either lane. My friend Justin was leading us in his WRX, so I swung over to the other lane to be next to him at the light.

I know my Prelude VTEC isn't as fast as his WRX, but I thought I would have some fun anyway. So we're looking back and forth and revving the engines, so I decide to play a little joke on him. I reached over and grabbed my helmet from the driver's seat and put it on. Then I grabbed my racing gloves and started putting them on as well, looking over at him the whole time to see his reaction. As I had the second glove about half on, I noticed something strange. His WRX was moving. I was so busy watching his reaction to me putting on my racing gear, I didn't realize that the light had turned green. I guess I don't have to say that he won. D'oh!

Yes, I like to cruise the local wal-mart with my helmet on... Then getting out of my caged prelude screamming "i won, i won, i won" in front of the local ricers.. Aahh, good times...

 

I wear the helmet so he can't see who it is....

 

ROFL... that's great. There was this one time when a ricer started revving at us and then screaming while my friend Lin and I laughed at her. We were laughing at her because we were buried deep in traffic. Maybe she just thought two Asians in a yellow rollbared Integra would automatically want to race or want to bow down to her Altezzas... no idea. My friend screams "oh , hold on, hold on!" and grabs my helmet out of the backseat. He puts it on, then counts down with his helmeted head out the window as the light turns green "I'm ready, I'm ready, 3, 2, 1, GO!" The traffic rolls off the line quite slowly, and my lane inches ahead. My friend's sitting here with his helmeted head out the window and arm pumping... LOL, as we eventually crawled past, we hit the 4-ways. Rather hilarious to win a "race" never exceeding 35mph.

 

i'm gonna do that this weekend!! i'll let you all know if i get shot!!

 

I will put my helemt on and we can both run through Wal-Mart. When you get out and start screaming I won, Iwon I will get out and throw my helmet on the ground and start crying. We will also get you a bottle of champagne to spray.

 

Is that Arnold's? hmm.. once I get some spare cash, I'd like to get a group together to go there.. you gonna be at Camden this weekend?

 

Yes, I'm talking about Arnolds. It's a lot of fun, but the karts are so inconsistent, it gets annoying. Some of them just suck, and if you get a bad one, there is nothing you can do. In consecutive sessions I was the fastest in my class, then the second slowest. It was just a matter of having a cart that was in bad shape. You have to qualify for the Thursday night special by being fast enough on Tuesday night. Usually it isn't too hard to qualify, but last night the karts were really slow for some reason. Of the 5 of us who tried, only 2 of us actually passed, when all 5 of us are easily fast enough. I'm not going to keep going every Tuesday, but maybe once a month or so.

I'll most likely be at Camden, but I won't be running. My CRX is in the shop, and the Prelude is on snow tires, so it just isn't worth it. I'm just planning on stopping by and watching.

hey, matt. i was at arnolds last night (with about 12 other guys) what kind of helmet did you have?? you would have been the guy with the eddie irvine helmet?

yeah that place is super cool, but i totally agree about the karts not being consistent. i actually qualified last week but wanted to bring more people in this week (to show them how fun it was) and i couldnt do better than a high 41 sec lap last night. oh well. my friends and i are gonna start going more often. it would be fun to get a group of H-T guys out some night.

naa, i dont think we were out at the same time, do you remember what run groups you ran in? even so, my karts sucked a$$ last night so you probably did run a faster time than me. but i know for a fact that my roomate beat 'cha and it was his first time out.

 

It might not have been me. There were some kids there from the Villanova Auto Club, and I let one of them borrow my helmet. So it could have been him. Though, one of the karts I had was so bad that my grandmother could have taken me out. Other than that one run, I was either fastest, or I knew who was faster than me...
