integra brake caliper question
ok i replaced my rear brake calipers 3 yrs ago because one of them seized. since then i replaced the pads once. i checked my rear pads today because i heard squeaking last nite and on the passenger side the outer pad is worn, but the inner one is fine. every other pad on the car is fine because i replaced them in june 2004. is this a caliper problem or something else? im taking it back to firestone tomorrow because the caliper is covered for the lifetime of the car, but id like to have an idea before i go over there.
It could be the caliper slide pins are sticking, so the outboard pad doesn't release completely.
It could also be that pad is wedged tight in the caliper bracket. Sometimes I have to file the paint off the ends of the pad backing plate so it fits nicely.
Either way, this is kinda normal maintenance for your brakes, & doesn't necessarily mean the caliper is bad.
