I'm about to buy a 2005 Civic Value Package. I was wondering if anyone knew if the instrument cluster from the LX/EX (with tach) can be swapped directly into the Value Package civic??

I'm not familiar with this Value Package civic, but every other civic it is possible. I don't see why they would change it now.

 

I sure hope so. It seems like it would just plug and play, but you never know. So on all other civics, like a DX, you can put in a cluster, say from an EX, that has a tach and the tach will work with the DX? The DX is prewired and all?

I know this makes most sense so they don't have to waste money on designing and installing two different harnesses, but like I said you never know.

My 00 SE Civic (canada 2dr coupe) had a shitty cluster with no tach. Put on an SiR Cluster, and the tach worked fine. Not sure about the civic you're talking about though... but ya, why would they change it now

 

one reason they could change it is that the LX/EX guages could use a new technology, while the VP uses an older technology. I know they have differnet lighting methods, on the Honda site it said the LX/EX ones were "backlit"

I dont know, I just want to see if someone has actually heard that this can be done, especialy before I go buy a cluster from Honda

 

i was gonna buy a VP and do the exact same thing but i bought the 2005 LX. i wish you luck.
