Just had Pep Boys do my brakes, but the car doesn't feel any better.
Just had Pep Boys do my brake job. Paid way too much! So I want to be sure I got my money's worth.
When I got my car I noticed that the brake pressure was the same. I guess what I was expecting was more pressure. (Barely pressing on the brakes and your car is already slowing down type thing).
What can I do to be sure this was done correctly? All suggestions welcomed.
ThX guys!

Never take it to Pep Boys.
Honestly, not being a dick, that's why. They aren't specialized, they just want money and will do half assed jobs just to get it over with. If you could go to a Honda dealer and get a tech there to inspect it, I bet they'll find something that is wrong or still needs repair/replacing. And take a camera and get a statement from them. And then go to Pep Boys and demand money back
Even some Honda dealerships are lazy though, I'd trust a Honda dealer because they're the parent company of your car.
Unless youre good friends with a reliable mechanic, a dealership is the way to go

I would way rather have Pep Boys do it than the dealer. Most dealers I have found don't know what they are doing either and charge you tripple what it should cost. It's not like they even do a better job. The ones around here find stuff wrong with stuff that has nothing wrong with it also but all of them may not be like that but all of them overcharge you and most of them have no more of an idea of what they are doing that the people at Pep Boys and sometimes less of an idea. I would look for a good local mechanic I have found that often they know more about the car and what they are doing and do a 10x better job at a fraction of the cost. That or do your own work I prefer doing it myself unless it is something I can't do. I used to take the car to the dealership and have since learned my lesson that is the last place I would take it.
well first of all, what were you expecting from a brake job? i mean, it's not like replacing the pads is going to affect the pedal feel or anything like that...the pedal feel is all to do with the master cylinder and brake fluid, not your pads/rotors...now if you had a problem with the brake pedal being extra sloppy or "dead" and the brake job didn't cure this, then you have a larger problem than what a brake job would fix...

You know what, your right. I think it was just that I was expecting "super" breaking power. After driving in the free way and testing it was sudden stops. I concluded that its the same with a smooth breaking feeling. Something else, I have 18,000 mile warranty so if something happens or if my car doesn't hit 18,000 by next year in March, F**ck, I'll just take it in for a brake inspection. Its free any ways.

please get a 14 and 17 mm wrench\sockets, some honda m77 molykote and do it yourself next time.

Exactly. It takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to change brakes on all four corners. It's cost me nothing except a can of coke or so, and it feels so much better to have done it yourself.

You really like Stainless Steel brake lines don't you? I have them on one of my motorcycles on the front brake and it is good but I don't know that I would put them on my car as the regular lines are good enough for the average person. I would say change the brakes yourself which is what I would do unless you got the rotors changed also then I would take it somewhere as it sounds like it is a pain in the *** on this car. I ordered some Brembo's but haven't gotten them yet but will take it somewhere to have them installed as it sounds like the average person can't do it himself if just instaling pads though definately do it yourself.
I would love to do my own brakes! But I don't have the skill and that's something I wouldn't want to do on my own unless I had some practice. I actually have been thinking about taking some auto mechanic classes just for this sole purpose. Could save me thousands down the line. After this, I may consider it!
