just wondering what the difference was. i need to order one right now and the 94 gsr is like $138 and the 01 gsr is about $98. i will be putting it on a b20b block, so any help would be appreciated.
You can use the newer pump, but your lower timing cover won't fit. You can use the newer cover without problems -- I think it's still cheaper to get the pump and cover than buying the older style pump.

You shouldn't if you don't have a crank sensor. I run a 96+ oil pump/cover on a 91 block w/ stock timing gear.

obd2 oil pump are a updated verison of the obd1 oil pump and flows better. and yes you can put a obd2 pump on a obd1 block. Also you can reuse the obd1 cover just trim it down or buy the obd2 cover and be done with it.
