Default Rear wheel bearings difficult to replace?

Hey Everyone,
Have a noise from the rear, sounds like I'm running Knobby tires at 35 mph and above.I am assuming it is the bearings.I have noticed parts listed as "bearing and hub assy's"at different parts suppliers. My question is, can the bearings be replaced somewhat easily, or do you guys recomend the assy's?I have access to tools, and a shop, but not specialized tools.Any help would be appreciated.

Same here. I don't use the Accord much during the winter and the wife took it out today and told me that something did not sound right out back. I took it for a ride and noticed a noice coming from the rear (the knobby tire sound)......I jacked up the rear and spun both rear wheels......the right sounded fine, but left sounded like the bearing was bad. I checked out my Helm shop manual and replacing the hub looks just too easy.....what's the catch??? (i.e. remove the wheel, apply the e-brake, remove the bearing nut cover, back-off the bearing nut, remove the rear brake caliper, remove the rotor, remove the bolts the hold the hub assembly in place......replace the hub and re-install in same order.......use the e-brake to lock the rotor when you torque the bearing nut to 139ft-lbs and then pin the edge down so it won't back out).........sounds too easy? Does the hub/bearing come as one unit (including lug-nut studs)? So you don't re-use the hub (i.e just replace the bearings)? Forgive me, the last few sets of bearing that I've replaced where on domestics.....where you replace just the bearing.

Yeah, thats what i am wondering also. The hub assy., I've seen for around $144.00,so just a bearing has got to be less.I also spun the wheels in the air but nothing noticable(noisewise). They must need to be loaded(on the ground )to produce a noise.Oh well, maybe somebody out there knows.I'm new to the car and havn't purchased a manual yet,but you said according to yours that it looks like the assy.,is the way it's done.So thats the way I'll plan it for now. Thanks for the input.
