Default A few questions

Hello everybody,
I am sorry if my topic sounds totally stupid, I am a newb, bear with me. Ive got a 99ex coupe 5spd right now, with the standard i/h/e, will be buying a 92-95 hb as my project car, will be puttinga b18c1 with a t3/t04 turbo in it. Ive got a lot of research to do, dont worry, I know this. My question is this:

Is internal engine work(such as replacing cams, pistons, things of that nature) completely impossible for me? I figure I will have infinite amounts of time to work on it so I have time to learn and work with it, but is it something that would be better for a shop to do? I cant stand the thought of having a shop do any of my ****, but is it a better idea? And if I can do it, are there any good write ups anywhere, I cant seem to find any on here.

Sorry for the idiotic post. And thanks in advance for the help.

no, not impossible if you can follow directions. certain things you will have to goto a machine shop for. such as align bore, hone, hot tank, polishing the crank etc... just things you dont have tools for.

here are some write ups:

^thats a good one

and also just spend the $80 or whatever it costs for a HELMS manual. best tool ever.

You can do it yourself. Just gotta take one thing at a time and do some research. The links posted seem very detailed to me.

yea, thats the other thing, you need to buy a few pretty expensive tools. but in my opinion i would rather pay money for the tools than for another person to do it.

my best advise would be to read read read. get and read anything you can trust. helms, honda builders handbook, and write ups like the one above
