Advice 97+ jdm h22a into a 96 usdm prelude
Have a 96 prelude non-vtec sohc obd2. Want to drop in a 97+ jdm h22a since it's already obd2. Trying avoid converting obd2 to obd1 headache, may not be as bad as i am making it out to be. But does anybody on here know anything or anyone that has done this swap? Any advice will be good. Thank you.
that's what I wanted to hear thank you, have you done this swap or know someone that has it done? When I emailed the guy this same question he said something about the starter locking up, heard anything like that before.
turns out that the jdm preludes 97+ are still obd1, lucky asses be nice if they kept the 96 usdm model sine it's still older body style obd1 instead of obd2 92-95 obd1 and for some dumbass reason they make the 96 obd2, oh well **** happenes
my advice is if all you are wanting is an h22 is to get a usdm obd2 h22 and drop it in. You arent suffering TOO much of a hp difference!!! j/k
Anyhow, that would be the easiest mod because it would be a drop in with sake of maybe some different mounts or something. I ahve never done an f22 to an h22 in a prelude. You may also need a different power steering pump because the f series are different from h series and will not fit the hose that runs to the pump. As far as wiring, all the wires will hook up except vtec solenoid and pressure switch. I would also try to get an obd2 h22 wiring harness with that motor if that is what you wanted to get because the f22 harness will be shorter in some spots because the fact that the f22 is smaller.
