I need help finding my first helmet
In a couple weeks I am planning on going to me first SCCA event and I want to get my own helmet. Can anyone tell me what kind to get, where to get it and what to expect to spend?
I appreciate any help offered.

I'm sure people have brand prefs and stuff, but what you need to look for is the SNELL rating sticker thats inside the helmet. At this point, you'll want to make sure it has a year 2000 rating and theres 2 kinds, M (motorcycle) and SA (Special Application). M helmets are less expensive, SA helmets have a couple extra features (they're designed for multiple impacts, couple other things that don't matter much for autocross). As far as spending money.... I picked mine up at a Sport Bike shop and paid $90 for a $200 helmet because it was "last year's graphics". Like I care. But you're going to want an open face one, closed face gets too hot in the summer and is a little view restrictive. Probably plan on spending $100-180 on an M2000 helmet. Make sure you try it on before you buy it. If it feels snug, it fits.
