I think alot of the new rules are too strict. Guess they are trying to even the playing field a bit more which does make for closer more interesting races, however I've always felt that if a team is better at building a car then they should win plain and simple.
Did you look at the lap times, the dry lap times as compared to last season?
They were movin pretty well regardless. And from what I remember they mentioned that even with the new aero rules the teams were able to retain almost as much downforce as last season.
The rule I found most intriguing was the 1 engine for 2 race weekends.
And as an aside that track looked uber scary last night for qualifying, skating all over the place.
And Sato ate the wall
Oh well, I'm stuck at work today but the wife is taping Grand Am with the introduction of the New Mustang. I'm planning on a whole day tomorrow of watching tapes and the GP with mucho

The tire rules are dumb but I can live with those. The rules change that really pisses me off is the two races per engine rule. So what was the result? All of the teams ran very few laps during practice to save their engines. Wow, what a treat for the fans! Thanks for ruining F1 Bernie and Max. And I'm sure this is not saving the teams any money either.
It sucks with these rules! Everybody is driving like grandma to save tires and engine. "Real Garage Queen!" This 1st Qual were especially sucks for Sato with his unlucky "Death" no. 4!

No kiddin, so does he get #6 or which new # now? Hopefully it's luckier than this one was. The heavens opened up when he jumped on. It just sucks but glad no one was hurt.

the tire rule is beyond ridiculous. i just hope to god no driver gets hurt this year because of having to drive on a slow leaking or flat spotted tyre.
ferrari is absolutely, 100% the cause of this terrible rule and i hope to god they suffer multiple times this season because of it. i wish no harm to the drivers but i want the team to suffer because of it.

I believe that if a tire is damaged they can come into the pits and change the tire or tires; they just cannot refuel at the same time.
About Sato, I do not think he will ever live up to Hondas expectations. I think he needs to go. Nothing about him impresses me.

Correct, this is what was reported last night.
I don't think that was Lance's point?

Remember Senna used to crash a lot too. Sato goes for the win and has the killer instinct. Its true that he may never deliver the results but at the very least if he fails it won't be because he wasn't trying. I respect a driver like him and many others do too.

And yet another consequence of these stupid *** rules changes in final qualifying...well I won't spoil it for you guys but yeah, this sucks.

Agreed. Between the aggregate times and differing fuel loads, as well as yesterday's wacky weather, I have no idea what the true pace is for any of these guys.
3 more hours til the BS stops.

Unfortunately can't watch real time but this site has a pretty good streaming information even on dialup: http://www.formula1.com/ for those like me stuck at work.
I won't look or post again when the race starts till after I watch it tomorrow.

Hopefully the door hits his *** along with Button's on the way out.
I'm not a big fan of the tire/engine rules but I do like the two part qualifying. Kind of keeps the drivers honest and ensures that they can duplicate or better their initial qualifying time. It seems that with all the rule changes involving aerodynamics the cars aren't that much off last year's qualifying pace.
Oh yeah.....**** THE RAIN!
It's screwing everything up!
