RSX Ground Controls
Alright, my dc5 is running on coilovers. My mom took it out (its in her name) and she is complaining that it "fishtails" when you go over turtles in the road (reflectors if you dont know that term). Anyway, I told her its the characteristics of coilovers, how they are stiff ect... she doesn't think its safe and is taking it to goodyear tomorrow. Tell me what you guys thing, cause shes right here. Maybe comments from you will help her belive instead of just mine. Thanks.
How old are you? Who makes the payment? Is the car insured? I ask these things b/c if you say that you are 18 or above, and you make the payment, and the car is insured, WTF does it matter what your Mom thinks? I love my Mom to death, and she hates knowing that I am modifying my car to eventually get involved w/ autox/scca, but whatever. I'm 25, haven't lived at home in FOREVER, so IMO, she can STFU & GO.
suspension modifications will alter the vehicles handling characteristics. I've driven lowered cars for the last few years, last fe cars, and I have never lost control, I actually feel much more confident, and my cars have been more predictable...

OK, I gotcha. Never mind then; I understand.....I also understand her concern. The stock suspension is way more forgiving than aftermarket, so please don't go out thinking that you are speed racer, and you should be OK.
i THINK i know what u mean..when ur car sorta fish tails...i really dont think its from the coilovers. i think its due to how the car is lower which makes the alignment slightly off (i could be wrong) but yes my car did it before when i was lowered on eibach sportline springs and on ground controls...some one told me its cuz i need new tires (which i didnt need new tires but made and excuse to buy azenis) so i bought new tires. sorta went away.
get an alignment...see what happens.??

It could be any number of things, but it shouldn't be poor tire condition, or needing an allignment. Those are just typical maintanance items that should be handled promptly. What should cause it are higher spring rates, shocks w/o enough travel, sway bar combinations, etc.
If you lower your car for handling reasons, that's what most folks are trying to obtain - less understeer & more oversteer.
