Default Whistling noise when shifting 2nd, 3rd, 4th or just accelerating????

I've had this problem for about 5 months now...It is MAD annoying! Every time I accelerate my car makes this whistling noise when shifting from 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5. Sometimes it just does it when I accelerate on 4th or 5th without shifting. I searched and alot of you guys have had different whining noises so I wanted to be exact with mine...Anyone out there ever had this prob?? I don't want my tranny giving out on me but I'm not sure if it is my tranny....What do you guys suggest??

your gonna have to isolate the noise and see where its coming from. it could be coming from many places, us giving guesses would be stabbing in the dark

Okay, my bad...I forgot to mention that. It sounds like it's coming from near the alternator...I also noticed it only happens around 2k rpm...

I have the exact same problem. I own a 95 LS. I replaced the Alternator and that didnt fix it. My car also makes a humming noise at idle or if I driving it for a while. Some say it almost sounds like a turbo spooling sound.

Okay, good thing you posted that you replaced the alternator because that is what I thought my problem was coming from...I think it might be my intake though because a couple guys over Team-Integra.com suggested the intake. I have a cheapo replacement filter in the stock box...I'll be buying a K&N drop in soon so we'll see what happens...Mess with your intake and let me know what you get

I have an AEM intake. I sounds like its coming from under the IM and near the alternator. I still cant figure out what it could be. Someone said it maybe that I need to replace my IM gasket.

IM- INtake Manifold - maybe they think it's leaking but you'll feel more things wrong with the car if that's leaking. check your belts around that area especially if you think it's not the altenator sometimes it can be hard to pinpoint sounds in a running engine.

No its def not. It makes a humming noise in my car sometimes when it idles. Then when I take off it sounds like a turbo is spooling. Then sometimes when I shift you can hear it "squel". The alternator did have bad bearings so the squeling when shifting when away sorta.

i also thought it was this because it happened right after I threw in a brand new cat...I will start troubleshooting as soon as it starts getting nice out here...It's cold and thare's still plenty of snow on the ground

I definitely don't think it's the intake manifold...The bolts on mine are like rusted on there for life...

One of my friends say to fill up my powersteering system (its already full), and then he told me to put belt dressing on all the belts. Anyone got any other ideas?

Press your cluth down while on Idle, then listen to see if the noise sounds lowers... it might be coming from a bad bearing inside the trans.

The noise is not there while on idle though...Only when accelerating.

I think Its either the AC compressor on mine. I sat there and narrowed it all down while listening to it.
