Performance/fuel economy mods
You are on the right track. The header along with a good muffler and intake lets the whole motor breath better equals power and better milage too. The header is the most inportant part so spend your money there. The muffler can be done cheaply using junk yard, J C. Whitney,Ebay etc. Don't know much about the Accord and intake systems but maybe someone else can help you out. There is usually one best and one almost as good but much cheaper. I have had great luck on Ebay for performance parts for my Miata but you have to know what brands are worth having. Do lots of research before you lay down your hard earned money.
as far as an intake is concerned, since you have a carb'd model, the normal intakes are obviously not going to work. your choices are limited to either a drop in K&N filter, or possibly a new air box, although i'm not aware of any that will fit the stock carb. the only aftermarket air boxes i know of are intended for use on the weber carb.
