Default Si Cam install questions (d15b2)

Im getting ready to put a Si cam in my d15b2. The haynes manual I have is not that great but it covers the basics. I was wondering if anyone has seen a good write up with pics on how to do it. And also, should I re-use the d15 cam gear or use the Si's?

what's up man? Did you get the cam out of that wagon?

Search for the crx factory service manual and download it.

I think you'll need an adjustable cam gear. I think it would be off by a tooth or so regardless of whether you use the b2 or a6 cam gear.

I believe even the Haynes covers the correct positioning of the cam gear for when you put the timing belt back on.
From what I remember, the gear has 2 sets of markings on it. One set is for the D15 and one set for the D16. Just make sure you set it up for the D16.

The head casting is the same for the D15 and the D16 so I fail to see how you would need an adjustable cam gear or how the belt would be off half a tooth.
I know you are about 1/2 a tooth off for a mini-me when using the D16Z6 head.

Ok, so I should install it as if I was installing it on an SI. I did read somewhere that there are two different markings on the cam gear. I just need to figure out which one.

I thought you needed it b/c the block was shorter and timing would be slightly off.

I dunno.

FYI-the gears have the same # of teeth. The difference in how the cam is indexed. Just sharing cause I had the two side by side once and was just like, WTF is everyone talking about!?

I put an aftermarket si cam in my old d15. What I did was made a mark on the cam gear and a mark somewhere on the block, so you can line the marks up. Slide the timing belt off by hand. Don't mess with the tensioner. Take out the cam. Used my d15 cam gear. Put the cam back in and line up the marks you made. This way everything should be lined up how it was before you took it out. Then slide the timing belt back on, without messing with the tensioner.

yes it will be off 1/2 tooth, due to cam indexing because of block deck height

1/2 tooth = 4.75 degrees

i am currently running this setup

heads are the same, minus the cam.

Blocks are different in height.

rods are 3mm shorter, pistons have 3mm less compression height and are flat top not dish, rod journals on the crank are smaller, block deck height is shorter, crank pulley has no harmonic balancing...im sure there is something i missed
