Finally!!!... got my brembo's and DC5R suspension on
So i had em layin around for months and finally decided to put em on. Thankfully my brother helped me out and let me use his lift, tools and most importantly himself lol. Took us about 6 hours all in all with the full install, bleeding, lunch, and getting the rotors resurfaced.
As for performance, they feel stock, but when applied at medium to heavy loads the car stops so much faster than the Type-s brakes. I thought the type-s had good brakes, lol I was wrong. Car feels strong under acceleration as well.
THe suspension components I put on off the Type-R also make it feel like a different car. The wheel stance is wider b/c of the wider control arms in front and the huge hubs in the back. Car handles significantly better and I feel that just driving normally. The car feels stronger overall!!! Im incredibly happy with my upgrade, and would suggest anyone to do it.
BTW im now running Tein SS-P's all the way down set on 8 all around with a rear hotchkis sway bar and front Type-R sway, All the Type-R suspension components and the brembo's + DC5R 17's. very nice combo.
comments welcome, just thought id post up a small review for ya'll since i dont know of many people that have the Type-r brembo swap... peace

good stuff. if you want a pretty neutral setup go with a ITR rear bar. I have the same setup but with mugen sways and it feels good.

i think i wanna run a little thicker sway bar up front and in the rear. gotta **** can the hotchkis kit i had on there, so im thinkin of going with mugen or some ****.
dc5-s brakes suck. Almost every Honda's stock brake/pad combination suck. But at least a good set of pads help aleviate the problem.

I wonder why that is? Honda is an economy car company.

I thought the Type S brakes were pretty good. never had a problem with them. It's about break in with brakes. some people glaze the rotors during break in, so it doesn't grab.

lol, haven't you seen the new Jeep Grand Cherokee commercial...it owns the RSX type S, showing it plow through the cones 20 feet further on a 60-0 stop.

DC5R brakes do not suck. sorry buddy your sadly mistaken. and as far as oem vs aftermarket, look at the price breakdown. the spoon calipers alone are $1500.00, mugen is really good but I'm not rich. The DC5R brakes are the best you can get for your money. and it's oem. and to the guy that got this suspension setup congrats and you beat me too it. can we get some pics? Soon my Flex's will be in and then I can get my brake setup.

Assuming that there is enough braking force to get all four wheels into the threshold braking zone, it's really the tyres that stop the car, not the brakes.
If that's a real commercial, it's a deplorable trick.

post up pics (or do the ****'s not allow that anymore?)
are you still running the stock DC5R pads or did you change them?

Could be...i couldn't read the actual tire model BUT, considering the jeep did not have high performance tires it's got some worth.
60-0 times on that commercial were then quantified on the screen. Someone should dig out their orig road&track of the type S and compare it to the new jeep and see!
My good friend has a type S, brakes are good...but still of stock caliber.

Ahh nice set up. It's my car's twin from cali.
I was considering the DC5R stock brembos, but was leaning more toward the brembo gt set up. But at the moment I am trying to find a brake set up that will allow for a 15 inch rim for track use. So I may go brembo if they fit or wilwoods new full race kit.
But In all the stock brembos have nice reviews on them.

The DC5-R brembos can fit 15 inch rims. The Wilwoods on the other hand, might be possible, but I doubt it, as they were quite a bit larger overall, than the DC5-R setup.

I beg to differ bro. The DC5R stock brembos carry a 300 mm rotor. Team dynamics makes a 15 inch rim with the correct offset that clears the rotor and caliper perfectly. How do I know? I'm on the ITR uk forums alot. One member is currently running it on his DC5R.
And as for the willwood kit, they have made a full race kit for the rsx-s that will clear a 16, and custom make a kit ot fit a 15 for the same price.

Yeah, I'm confused. I never said they couldn't fit, I said they could. I know about the Team Dynamic rims, and have seen the videos the of guy running 15's for track days.
I also know about the Wilwood kit, and I've had that as well. They were larger than the DC5-R setup, as I compared them to the DC5-R when I took them off of the car.

Did i say DC5R brakes suck? No i just suggested that MOST Honda's brakes suck. The stopping distances are pood in general. And to the above poster, yes Honda is a Econo car company but these are suppose to be the sport models. So why not throw on sporty parts IE: tires brakes.

yeah, stock dc2 michelin (h4, v4 mxv4) whatever they are called suck *** and the new 215/45/17 michelin mxv4's on the dc5 suck for performance but are better for snow and rain when compared to a z rated tire. the first modd when buying a dc5 should be new tires on the peice unless you live in areas with shitty weather. but the michelin mvv4's are some really expensive tires
sorry that was kinda off topic. nice setup on the dc5. might be worth looking into for me.
