Default Getting ready to order motor mounts, need some advice... please.

I'm pretty much set on getting the Jim Fab mounts in the street version (tad softer then race), Does anyone have any thoughts or comments about motor mounts for a mostly stock R W/ bolt-ons?

Oh and yes I have looked at the inserts but since my stock ones are very shot I'd rather replace the entire mount, then just put a band-aid.

One more thing I also have Z10 traction bars on the car, would installing stiff motor mounts cause any problems?

thanks!

Rob, the jim fabs are nice

but u can still use inserts on broken motor mounts

$165 for all three jim fab mounts vs. $30 for ES inserts and $130 in my pocket

im gonna go with the inserts

I'm thinking this way... Put new ones in and never look back.

I'd rather not have any issues with the motor mounts again, so for me to spend a few extra $$ is fine.

Window weld!!!!!!!!11111111 (it is a serious option though for broken mounts)

Which mounts did you break? (Im assuming the torque mounts or rear cause thats what Jim Fab makes).

I put fairly used JDM mounts on my R when we did the motor.. Put in the inserts and have never looked back.. I'm with Dan on this one, it was $$ in my pocket..

the jim fab stuff is nice, but really not necessary if you're not building a race kaa methinks.. even the "street" version..

HAsport mounts

My favorite but they are quite costly when compared to jim fab.

replacing the inserts is not ghetto at all, the rubber is the only thing that would ever wear out on the mounts since the mounts are made out of steel or whatever,

either option will fix your problem

Precisely! My driver's side mount had split, dumping its fluid and the engine was moving considerably as a result. Replaced the insert with a Prothane race insert for all three mounts and never looked back. No need to ever replace the actual mount unless the housing is cracked or you are doing an engine swap.

Im just going to do a rear mount, and get inserts for the rest. That should be plenty and wont vibrate or rattle my head off.

supposedly traction bars + mounts = no wheel hop so that should be a good combo.

I think it's personal preference. They appear to do the same job, but in the long run, I'd prefer an actual motor mount replacement.

Where do you get the jim fab one from? I'm heading to SJ in a month and wanna organise some parts to fly back with me :D

Jim fab fit JDM?
