do the math and see if the counter/final gear gives you 4.785...

or you could count the ring gear...it should give you exactly 67 teeth from memory.....

The countershaft also uses a distance collar.

Standard 4.400 ring gear = 66 teeth
JDM 4.785 Final Drive = 67 teeth
ATS 4.9 Final Drive = 69 teeth

also parts you might need if you are putting it into a 96spec tranny
1st gear 23421-P80-E30
Distance collar 23914-P80-E30
Needle bearing 91107-P80-E31

On an OEM ITR tranny with the 4.785 final drive there should be a stamp saying N3E LSD in black ink. If it says J4D LSD then it has the 4.4 final drive.

Unfortunatly the stamp may have rubbed off, so the only other option is to open it up and count the teeth as stated above.

EDIT: reading ownz me. You are just purchacing the final drive so yes you should count the teeth. my bad

 

ok i am living in hk im going to buy some cams and also a final drive how can i tell if the final drive they are selling me is 4.785 OEM HONDA is there any marks? or writings?
and also im planning on buying second hand JUN3 cam is there any markings? or writings so i can differentiate that is a jun3 cam?

 

and also what are the things i should look when buying the cams
