Default Needed - a nice street/track tire...

And all this time I thought that the azenis was exactly the tire that I was looking for. So - I was getting ready to order today.. Azenis, check. 15", check. 195/55 - no go?? It seems that Falken lists them on their website, but nothing at any online retailer that I have seen so far. Does anyone know someone that actually carries them in the 195 size - as from what has been said about the 205 is that they are quite a bit wider, and thus may not fit under my fender. If the case is that Falken really does not have the 195/55 size out yet, what are your opinions on the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position?? Tire rack has them for sale at only $76 a tire. Only problem is that they are a lowriderish 195/50 profile, but I guess that will have to do..

ceas..

Falkens 195/55 will not be out until spring. The 205 is 8.3" wide, very wide for a 205 and better resembling a 225/45 tire. Just for comparison, the 215/45/16 tire is 8.5" wide.

I would go with the S03s.

Im rolling Bridgestone Potenzas RE730 205/50-15 on my Si. I havent had any problems with them at all on the street or the track. The Pole Positions are suppose to be an even better tire. I say go for them.

Ceas, just remembered! I have a set of new 205-50-15 RE730's at work. They sell for $90+/- and I'll give you a $50 off coupon if you buy all 4. Floyd bought the last set we had at work before. We are doing a tire promotion this week only. Call me, I'm off Tuesday.

Thanks,

My favorite was the RE-71, but they don't make them any more. Dunno anything about the RE-730 (it's replacement), but haven't heard bad things.

I have friends that liked the AVSi, and I drove them and liked them. Good choice for street and track use as well.

I hear *great* things about the Kuhmo street tire (712 is it?) for both street and track use, but haven't driven them myself.

Good luck finding something you like.

Ceas, unless your car is really really low, a 205 should fit fine.. How wide of a rim are you using.. I would go with 205/50/15 Azenis IMO...

How does everyone fit 205's on there civics? I bought 205/50/15 Azenis for my 93
civic and they rub front and back. Real good traction but hard on fender liners.

I've got 205/50/15 on 15x6.5 +45mm with the stock suspension, and I have no rubbing problems (yet?).

I have 15x6.5 +38 off set with lowered suspension. Maybe I have the wrong off set.

Well your wheels stick 'out' 7mm from the hub more (or 7mm closer to the fenders) than the a wheel with a +45mm offset. This is most likely the reason

Here's another vote for Yokohama AVS Intermediates. They wear great, and stick well.

I've driven on them and i like them very much as well - especially for the price. Unfortunately you can no longer get 205/50/15's from tire rack (maybe you can get them elsewhere?)

The closest sizes are:
195/45/15
195/60/15
205/60/15

i am going to go against the norm and vote for Kumho Ecsta 712's. Mine are a great street tire and only get better with use on the track. But you are probably looking for a little bit sticker compound aren't you?

I am very happy with my Kumho Ecsta 712s. I got them for around $300 on the car.

you can get the azenis in 195/60-14 if the 14 will fit over your new brake setup.

I'm running 205/50 15 Azeins on my stock ITR rims (15x6) with no rub problems. They are great tires (if you can find them)

I have the 712's on my car and am not really happy with them. They are perfect for the street and autox but they dont have enough bite to hold up on the track. I do give them credit for not chunking whatsoever. For the price, you cant beat the 712's or Azenis. But for that price, I would go hands down the Azenis. I also drove a GSR with the S03 but honestly dont know the price, they are a sweet *** tire though.

<----- Getting Azenis in the near future.

I'll let you guys know when I get my Kosei K1 15x7" 45mm offset, and 205/50x15" today when I pick them up. I'm also putting on 3mm spacers.
