Default OEM builds

Trying to get some ideas on a LS/VTEC OEM build to perhaps change around what i'm thinking of for building my own, others experience/know how is better to learn now then after i've started buying parts.........searched turned up little under "oem build".............

What setups are some of you running? Whats your hp and tq #'s? Thanks!

if you've got a few things not OEM i don't care.......but if you're using a fair amount of OEM parts then that will help too

Well, if you want to stay OEM honda you definatley can.
LS Block, LS rotating assembly (balanced, crank micropolished), CTR/ITR Pistons, PR3 Head, ITR/GSR oil pump, ITR Valvetrain, ITR/CTR Camshafts, ITR Intake Manifold, etc... The only aftermarket products you're going to need are the ARP Rod/Head bolts. You'll make some nice power too.

yeah def get the rods pinned and some head studs...........tuned with Hondata i'm wanting around a 200whp setup, streetable. I just did some more reading and found that ctr pistons may not be some friendly in a LS/VTEC. I may just go different pistons with LS rods or new rods and pistons all together.

I'm using my B16A2 head in my 99SI........match a LS block, CTR or 99+ ITR pistons and prob Type R springs/retainers unless a good deal on some others.

I like the idea of a OEM build, Honda really knows what they're do'n but I know reliable setups are out there aftermarket too, my main goal is just 200whp.........help!!

The biggest drawbacks I find with all OEM builds are cams. CTR cams are great, but with the available compression in an all OEM parts bottom end, bigger cams and a suitable valvetrain are definately needed to really take advantage of the situation.

i'm thinking:

b16a2 head
ls block
ls rods
ctr pistons
ctr/itr cams

i/h/e + springs, retainers, injectors not necessarily oem
+ hondata, head studs, rod pins, clutch, fly, tuned inlinepro

depending the compression of that setup when finished prob what 190?
what am i missing?

If you don't want ITR valvesprings, go Crower or Ferrea. You can run OBD1 Prelude injectors, they're 340cc.

i recommend omni or RM valve train, and BC or RM cams.

will go well with your cr if you use pct's

Also, by no means do you need head studs. OEM head bolts will do just fine.

You cant go wrong with ctr pistons in an ls bottom end with a gsr head.

I would chose p30's...smaller dome, 1 gram lighter and they give you pretty good street compression.
