Default Just bought 1998 GSR, what would you suggest I first upgrade?

This my first nice car and I love it.
I do need an new exhaust but if there are any other suggestions for ways to get cheap hp I am all in. My budgets low but I am considering this summer taking out a loan for a supercharger, should I do this if I can or start somewhere else. Also other than jackson are there any other good quality superchargers out there? And does anyone know any good websites for parts and specs-(other than the company that sells the parts). I would trust an outside company first.
thanks for the help

Simple and cheap reliable performance.
Titanium retainers- this is a MUST HAVE NO MATTER WHAT SETUP
double valve springs- this is a MUST HAVE NO MATTER WHAT SETUP
Civic type R intake cam
Mugen head gasket
Adjustable Cam gear
Reprogrammed ECU.

And you got yourself a nice street car.
Did this in a 96 integra and it ran like a champ. 14.6
Supercharger I would go Vortec, Expensive but nice.

intake, header, exhaust, ctr intake cam is also a nice cheap upgrade they are pretty cheap from h-motors right now. i would'nt think you need a valvetrain upgrade right now because the lift of a ctr cam isnt really radical enough to make the springs bind or float but if you have the money go ahead and get them now, they are recomended for stage1 cams and a must for stage2 or higher , it's always smart to keep future upgrades in mind.

Don't take out a loan for a supercharger. Your going to need to spend more that the initail cost of the S/C. You need to do more rearch before you buy.

Would you be installing it yourself?

For now just do all the maintaince the car needs. Timing belt, tune-up, valve adjustment, etc..

My OPINION, don't get a supercharger, they're made for v8's w/ TORQUE. Integras have 128torque and its not going to help with a supercharger. + you can get lot better numbers with turbo.

I have put lots of cash into mods on my 97 GSR but I have to say the most responsive upgrade has to be the type r cams. I got mine of E-Bay for @$200 after shipping.

Personally, I would prefer aluminum retainers and strong single valvesprings. I've seen too many titanium retainers break, and most dual spring setups multiply the amount of camshaft wear as opposed to single spring setups.

I agree with the first two (#1 and #2) and would've agreed with #3 before.
I would just say make sure to PROTECT your car from THIEVES and get a fun suspension. It will be very hard to be very fast on the streets, but if you want an I/H/ or E for fun, that's cool. How do I know? Check my screenname.
This next part is just completely MY OPINION (my 2 cents), so take it with a grain of salt... IMO, if you boost low or don't boost, you'll never really be that fast. What I mean is it will always be difficult to even hang with lightly modded Camaros, Stangs, Corvettes. If you boost high, there are a lot of problems that you may have (maintenance adds up to $ every month). So far, the best I've run at the track was 14.1 at 96 mph because my revs couldn't pass 5000 rpms. I had planned on running at least 12s, eventually an 11.9. It's just too hard, unless you have a lot of MONEY.
If I could go back, I would save all my money that I spent and just have a GSR with suspension and rims.
Remember, this is just my opinion and I know I've become a little bit anti-Honda recently when I used to be a HUGE Honda lover.

full coverage insurance and an alarm. as far as performance, suspension mods kick ***. after that decide if you wanna spend hella money and be slow or spend the same and be alot faster. all motor cost alot in the long run compared to turbo.

exactly what the others have said..make sure you have full coverage and a good alarm. Once you have those two, then start your modding. If your car is all stock, i'd recommend saving up for some good suspension. Either koni yellows with ground controls, or a set of teins. You could adjust your ride height, ride quality/stiffness/softness! Once you lower your car, start saving up for the basic bolt ons, i/h/e, then move on to head work just my .02

I strongly agree, get some good tires before you start with the power or suspension mods.

This is oh so true. The Very best alarm is a Garage.
Don't go to the movies
parties
even in your own yard over night.
Car theft is numerous...... sorry Integra theft is numerous, then hybrid and DOHC Si's.

best advise yet. don't start modding the engine before you know exactly what you want to do.

Most people get a little taste of NA and wished they had gone turbo first after dumping $1000+. That's money that can be used for the setup of your choice.
