everyone that's flipper thier s has walked away from it with a couple of cuts and bruises from my knowledge...

 

There was a guy in Georgia or S.C. that died. Him and his brother. Wingman had a post about it a few months ago.

no how he crashed. he never posted a speed, just said he slid off. im sure he took a turn too fast.

yeah and there were 2 ppl in that car...both walked away

 

Meh...he may not have been speeding, he said the tires were cold and the road was, i've lost the back end a little driving in my neighborhood at a relatively slow speed simply by turning the wheel and giving just a tad too much throttle...its easy to do in that situation.

 

he was probably speeding.. he just wanted to make it sound like it wastn' his fault..

 

if you were going the speed limit, it would be pretty easy to catch the rear coming out and get control back. its alot harder if he was speeding. also, look at the road. its mountain curves, do you know any s2k owner that goes through roads like that slow?

my thoughts exactly.

 

Just saying...its possible, if he was inexperienced with control of a car that is beginning to get out from under him, he could have been going the speed limit and had that happen easily. Problem with the idea that if your going slow its easier to handle is the fact that most people in that situation would panic, and do something to make the situation worse, like mash the throttle and turn the wheel the other way, or slam on the breaks causing the car to slide (some what, even with ABS) and bam, your in a ditch.

 

Is it always SOP to apply throttle to get the rear end back in?

It always feels as if that will push it further out...

Where should you steer?

9 out of 10 times, more gas will straighten the rear end out.. for that 1 in 10 times, BUCKLE UP FOR SAFTEY MOTHA**** (took that line from the movie Taxi)

 

What do you do about steering in a situation with the rear end out?

actually, if you feel the rear coming out, its best to lessen throttle but do not get off completely. say you were 75% throttle, go to 35-40% but be steady (no variation). then use the steering wheel to regain control.

DO NOT MASH THE BRAKE OR GAS!!!!!!!
