not even at 3,000 miles and oil is lowww
i just recently got my car dynoed and shtuff and im at about 2700 miles from my last change and it's like 1-2 quarts low, almost gone! and nothing's leaking and i have about 71,000 miles on it, and have used Neo-synthetic (but this last one was Torco-heard it was really good) for several changes now but it's still burning?/goin away before 3K
Neo is rated for like 10-20K!!
and Torco is rated for like 7-10K so what's the dili
anyone have some simple/ not too costly solutions i should try?

You're about a quart low if it's at the bottom of the dipstick, and that's normal for a Prelude. That's actually REALLY good that you've only lost a quart of synthetic oil within 3000 miles.
One quart every 1000 miles is within spec.

thanks for the info people, ya it doens't leak, just burns, *prob in vtec* don't we all punch our cars... so i guess the best thing to do is just add a few quarts here and there?... gets a lil costly tho,

Not really if you just use regular oil. Dont use synthetic or nothing special and its cheap.

Every prelude owner complains about oil. Its not just you. But like I said before, refrain from hitting vtec and high rpms. Drive how you normally drive for 2 weeks and check how much oil you lose, now drive 2 weeks without hitting vtec and see how your oil stays put. Im not saying drive like a grandma but avoid beating on your car when you dont have to.

mobil 1.
I was in an accident which resulted in my oil pan cracking and all the oil dropping out of the motor. The tow truck guy was a moron, and to make a long story short, the motor was run with no oil for an unknown (to me) period of time. I replaced the oil pan and 30K miles later, the motor is running fine. As far as I can tell, there was no internal damage. Compression is ~210 on all cylinders. I'm sure there was some luck involved, but I give credit to the oil as well. The thin layer of oil that remained on my internals apparently was enough to keep friction at an acceptable level. I burn about 1.5 quarts between changes, but if you go to walmart you can get 5 quarts for $20. Incidentally this is the ONLY reason I go to walmart.
basically, I am impressed by the level of protection synthetic oils provide in situations that are, lets say, less than ideal. Its probably worth the extra cash if you plan on driving hard. I'm not saying Mobil 1 saved my motor, but I'm also not saying it did not. I'm sure it helped.

I don't think there's any oil I'd want to use that won't slowly burn off in an H22. It is totally normal. Sounds like you're burning about a quart every 3K miles, which is fine.
I don't feel like putting thick *** oil in my motor and I wouldn't recommend it for you.

... hows the fix coming along ?
