heated stock springs

i heard that its possible to heat the stock springs to lower the ride hight. has anyone tried it and how reliable is it.

as to the question posted:
for heating them..i have heard of people doing that, or just cutting the springs, but i would go with a good set of springs/coilovers matched with some good struts. because i dont think that cutting or or heating is too reliable

Wah wah wah. Way to give the same advice, without the humor. +10 friend points for you. When you get 100 you get a rainbow next to your screen name.
Do not heat your springs. You want to know why your springs sag when you heat them? It's because you are changing the mechanical properties of the metal at certain areas. Interfaces between the "heat-treated" and normal areas will be areas of increased fatigue cracking...especially on a spring. Not only is there no good way to heat a spring throughout (and apply a compressive force to reduce the free length) but you will be unhappy with the results. I'm being aggressive because it is not safe.
