Default Anybody ever try this? Hondata Airbox Modification

Yo crew,

I figured i would ask before i went ahead and started cutting up a brand new airbox. I know hondata always makes good stuff but will it really make a difference?

Let me know what you think. I already have a intake on the way but i was planning on just using the tube to the stock airbox and then a k&n replacement filter.

yes it does make a little bit of a difference. In the stock airbox you can see especially on the filter that the air is only passing through one side of the filter. when you cut the stock air box it uses more of the air filter.. you cannot feel the difference but it should make a difference on the dyno

I kinda figured it wouldn't be a noticeable difference. The Plan is to keep it somewhat stock so i can at least juice 15G miles of the warranty or so.

Plus, i dont feel like paying for a V2 when it only makes about 6hp on this application. Just not worth it anymore.

I've done this already and it doesn't make much of a difference. what you can do if hollow it out and then just take the suction tube out and that makes a big difference.

Seems like an easy solution to make some cost effective HP. CAI will give a lot more gains

Be sure to do a clean job, the smoother the inside of the box, the better. It should inprove throttle response due to the larger air volume around the filter but yes the HP gains will be modest.
