wheel width and offset?

wheel width and offset?
i was searching and i keep seeing that you should run a +45 offset with a 15x6.5
rim but only a +40 offset with a 15x7 rim which i am looking to pick up for my crx any info to clear up the reasoning behind this would be greatly appreciated before i pick up the rims cuz they come in both +40 and +45 so which one should be better

I'm kind of in the same situation. i'm going with the 15x7 +40... i'm going to get J's racing fenders as well .... they should fit fine BUT i will wheel space them to the max for the track.
