91 lowering springs prob..
so i wanted to lower my sis. car , and i got some h&r springs 1.7 drop , but when i put them on the car was higher then it was stock , so i need some help what kind of springs , do you peeps think i should get , i drive a integra so don't know much about the accord stuff , my friends said , just cut the springs alittle because there is lots of dead coil in them and get tokico blues on , i just want the car like 1.5 to 2.0 drop please all comments welcome
immediately after installation, the car will not be lower. you have to allow time for the springs to settle. you need to have patience.
cutting springs and heating springs is unsafe, as you are ruining the designed integrity of the spring.

This is not true. When you put the springs on, the car WILL immediately be lower, but over time the springs may settle and the car may lower more.
Sounds like you didn't install the springs correctly.

first thing first, did you mark them before you take the spring off? are they sitting the same position you took them off? if not, that's your problem.
integra, accord, all honda suspension are very very similar, it's just that you screw up.
tell your friend to go back to the 80's, cutting springs? those dead coil is actually loaded, so when your damper fully expand your spring wouldn't lift off the seat. Not to mention the spring will not sit right. what's the point of cutting the coil now after you brough and installed all the parts?
uncle_el, that's not how lowering spring works, they do settle a bit after initial installation but the car should be lower. you'll get what i am saying if you look at both the stock spring and aftermarket spring side to side.
But i do agree with you on this, cutting and heating the spring will only cause more sag, breakage. what's the point of driving a car that bounce all over the place to begin with?
cliff note: take off everything and make sure you put everything back in right order this time

iam 7 head -- i put the stock springs back in and they are okay , the car sits as it use to , when i had the problem is when i put the H&R s in , and the fronts are smaller then the back so i know which ones go in the front and in the back , but i went and talk to the guys at SMA where i got them and they where dicks , said to bad thats not there prob. but ended up cutting a deal with the owner there since his worker was a dick , they are going to put them on and if they do lower the car then i will pay them 904 for putting them on if , they don't he will give me back my money and , give some other ones since he said he has never had a prob. with h&r springs

$904 to install your springs? Are you serious?
Sounds like you got the wrong springs, or you put them on wrong. H&R is a very reputable spring manufacturer, I doubt that the correct springs would give you this much trouble.

yeah, i think the problem here is:
improper installation or
improper application
Sorry, I know you probably think it was all ok, but something go messed up.
