Default OBD1 GSR swap sputters from 1500-2000

89 CRX HF
95 GSR
OBD1

seems to run rich,
sputters pretty bad under any kind of load 1500-2000RPM sounds like WRX or old VW.
other than that runs pretty much ok

Ideas?

yes but I don't know if they are working because Vtec isn't running because the speed sensor isn't hooked up.

check timing, that will make your car run rich and sputter under load. Also Honda motors run a little rich normally.

Also, my USDM P30 tended to make my B16A do this if the VSS is not wired up (and you run a code 17). Hook up that VSS!. The one in the dash works fine. No need to use the electronic style VSS and a different gauge cluster.

sotrmin matt is correct you come here sayign you have a problem but your vss isnt hooked up of course you are having issues. Use a cable vss and get that stuff hookedup to your hf gauge cluster.

So my studder from 1500-2000rpm is from the VSS not being hooked up?

That doesn't seem correct since the car ran fine for the last 300 miles. This studder is new in the last week.

You failed to mention this in the original post. Check your timing both cam and ignition. Also what ecu are you running? Did you convert to OBD1?

YES, it is OBD1

Yes I checked my timing
No I did not check my belt, it is the original one from the factory, the engine is 45k miles.

Give me ideas that are not simple, I've checked the dumb stuff, new dizzy, timing on,wiring correct, correct computer

The car ran fine for the last 300 miles since the swap
This is a new problem.

Don't give me the hammer(j/k)...You failed to mention that it was a new problem in the original post. That makes a difference because it can narrow down the problem. Alot of times it is simple stuff with swaps. I've done 5 swaps and if they don't run or run poorly it is more often than not something stupid. Vacuum connections correct? Spark plugs gapped properly? Are they new plugs? Have you noticed how the gas mileage is? Is the sputter under full throttle or part throttle? Any ecu error codes?
