del sol seats into an eg hatch wont work
alright, i am alittle pissed off. So I want to put the del sol seats into my 1993 EG hatch. I search for the how-to, follow the instructions, AND IT DOESNT WORK!!!!!!! I have both cars, and both rails and everything. I took the hatch seat apart, take the rails off, leaving just the cushions, and do the same with the del sol seats. I swap the braket assemblies and take the del sol seat with the hatch brackets on them and try to fit them in, and i can get one side to bolt on, but that makes the holes on the other side off by about a hole. I am pretty pissed, and am just glad that i started with the passenger seat.
Why wont it work? Cause when i searched everyone said it would work just fine, piece of cake, blah blah blah BULL ****!!!!!!
Sorry, I am just venting a little, but why wont it work? Anyone have some first hand experience doing this would be appreciated, nothing about "yeah my friend so and so did it, and it worked great". I dont want to hear about it unless you were there and you helped do it.

seat often take a lot of finesse to get in. getting all 4 holes lined up isn't easy. if the brackets aren't perfectly square, you may need to loosely install a few of the bolts, they try to get the others lined up.
Well I guess you could give a rats *** about what I have to say seeing as I don't have an eg nor del sol seats. But maybe if you gradually tighten down each bolt it will fit. Like put one it turn it a couple times get one on the other side in and turn a little and so on until you have it completely tighten down. Just a suggestion. Good luck man.
Edit: to slow

i sold my del sol seats to a close friend to put in his 92 eg. it worked fine... just swapped the rails and BAM! it was done. i did the work myself and can say it does fit. you're probably doing something wrong, guarenteed. it does fit.

Yup.... should work w/o a problem....
I swapped mine in like half an hour
juat be paitent and make sure u have all the bolts in on the seats. I believe their is like 4 for each rail into the cushions. Then thread a few threads in each bolt to the floor.
It doesnt really get easier then this modification IMO

alright, sorry about the venting earlier, was alittle frustrated at the time. I am not trying to say you guys are wrong, and i am sure you guys did it and it worked, but it is not working for me. And how could i do it wrong? Take old brackets off, put new ones on.
The holes are so far off, that i dont think that i can gradually tighten them either. I dont get how it is not working like you guys say it should, but it looks like i am going to have to put some washers on the bolts that go on the seat to space the brackets out so they fit.

yeah, directly out of a del sol, straight to the hatch. i am about to go to the hardware store and get some washers. That will do the trick. maybe i will try to get them again before i go

You ever hear of a screwdriver? Get one, and stick it through the rails and into the chassis as if it were a bolt. This will make sure the hole's lined up. Then wiggle the seat around to line up the other holes, and loosely put in the bolts. Should work okay. I had your problem when I was putting del Sols into my EJ8 and used the screwdriver method to make sure certain holes would stay lined up when moving the seat around to line up other holes.
so you got the hatch rails on the del sol seats? or is that the problem? if you took out your hatch seat rails and are having trouble putting them back in, just with different seats on them then you either got the driver and passenger side switched (check the seat belt mounting) or the lever that lets you slide the seat back and forth got pulled during installation and the two sides of the rails are not straight. if the seat is not mounted and the slide lever is pulled, the rails will move independently.
maybee its just my luck or something, but no matter what it is that i have bought in the past, nothing that said bolt on was ever bolt on. my 95 civic ex was the worst about that. i never had a perfect fit for anything, and i mean anything!!
i blame it on the fact that it was manufactured it canada, not us or japan
id prolly drill new holes in the brackets or make new ones

There really isn't a need for that. EG rails go onto del Sol seats and are then re-bolted to the chassis. It's the same for EKs, and yes, I do speak from experience because I bought Katman's del Sol seats and bolted them right into my EJ8 after swapping the rails as everyone on here has done. Assuming the EG rails weren't damaged in any way during the installation process, everything should work fine. Use the screwdriver method like I wrote previously to make sure holes stay lined up, and just make sure the slider wire is taut when the rails are put on the del Sols. (Re-bend it if you have to, which is what I did.)

I don't have the time this week, but I'd probably be able to come up and help and/or just do it for you next week.
yeah the civic brackets are about a 1/2" bigger i had the same problem but one you swap brackets/sliders it will work fine i have seen it done
they should work. had 96 del sol seats. they had different rails. all you have to do is swap all the rails from the seats that was already in your car and you should be fine. they will work
I put my Del Sol seats into my EG about two weeks ago. I had GSR seats before and I swapped over the rails. Took me about 40 mins to do both (after trying to figure out which bolts not to take off). The driver side went in without a problem. When it came to the passenger, I ended bolting the two inner ones tight and had trouble lining up the rear outer bolt. I loosened the two inner and they all lined up afterwards.
That's what I bet happened. Probably have one rail one tooth off from the other like I did when I put my delSol seats into my 92 Si.
I had 2 sets of del sols, plus did a friends seats (also del sols) into a EH body hatch (92-95). When I did my first ones (green stripe), with integra rails from my old seats, I had to use washers to space the rails out about 1/4" or less, and it all lined up. When I got my other set (all black, newer del sol?), they already had 92 civic rails on them, no washers, and they bolted up in my car. Maybe 93-95 and 96-97?? had diff rails (doubt it), or maybe the civic and teg rails are slightly different in how they bolt up to the seat (maybe the integra seat bottom frame is wider than civics, explaining why I had to use washers on those), where as the civic has the perfect spacing for the rails??? hth, thats from my own experience. Oh, and on my friend's del sols (silver stripe, newer del sol material), we used civic rails and it fit perfectly. So my suggestion is to try and space out the rails (I put the washers on the outer rail, the one with the handle) or try and get some 92-95 civic rails (dunno, but those worked for me w/o washers - your mileage may vary).
