OBD1 motor in OBD2 car, can you still use the port?
This is going to sound wierd if you but bear with me for a sec. I NY now we have emissions testing added on to our annual safety inspection. It's not really emissions though is the stupid part, they dont use a sniffer. They only require it on 96 and up cars, and what they do is hook up a scan tool to your OBD2 port and see if your car is throwing any cells for emissions components.
MY problem(well maybe not) is that I just bought a 97 Integra with an OBD1 motor in it. It has a OBD2 to OBD1 jumper harness in it so it runs with out codes.
But what will happen when a shop tries to scan for codes? Will they get an error message or just not be able to hook up to it? I'm afraid they wont get anything at all and my car will fail

If you try to use the scan port on an OBD2 car with an OBD1 ecu, nothing will happen. The scan tool will fail to connect..
I have a OBD1 gsr motor in a 99 GSR (OBD2 car), and I don't know what to do come emissions next week. I am in colorado. I am hoping to pay off the emmissions man
. I will report back.
. I will report back.

That's probably not good... I don't know if that will pass or not, I better call and ask some shops.
How could I run an OBD2 H22 ECU on a OBD1 H22 and not throw any codes?

To run the OBD2 ecu on an OBD1 engine, you normally have to just install and wire up the extra OBD2 components, which may, or may not be such an easy task.. On B-series engines, its not too bad, it just involves changing the oil pump assembly to one with a crankshaft fluctuation sensor, and adding the secondary O2 sensor to eliminate the codes.. There are a few more sensors, such as the Evap solenoid, but they normally do not cause the check engine light to come on..

I just did emissions in Colorado, and the port did not read, but the test continued. It did not effect me passing or not, it simply showed "advise" in the OBD category. Got my plates an hour later
