Passenger air bag (4th gen)
Try this link it's for a s2k steering wheel replacement on a 5th gen, but shows you how to disconnect the airbag safely, should be pretty much the same.

disconnect the battery.
take out the glove box panel. behind that there should be a connector. all the srs wiring in the car has yellow wrap around it so its hard to miss. disconnect the plug. there should be a cap for the airbag side of the plug. this is called the short connector. the short connector I believe is red. the purpose of this is so nothing shorts out the airbag and makes it go off.
after you unplug it I think there are only four bolts to take it out. hope this helps.

Yah, it's a pretty simple thing to do once you actually take the glove box(if that's what you want to call that little mini me compartment) out. There are a few nuts on either side. There's also a few nuts that connect it to the a frame by the firewall. Once you take out those nuts, you should be able to just pull up on the panel and the panel will lift along with the air bag attached.
Once you have the entire unit out, there are about a dozen screws that are connecting the air bag to the top panel. I had a bit of trouble with a couple of screws but overall it was easy to remove. Once you've taken out those screws, the panel will lift right off. Now if you're planning on puttign that panel back on without the airbag, you'll need something to keep it in place. The panel is usually secured by the airbag itself. When the air bag is torqued down, it makes the panel nice and snug. You'll need to make some sort of latch or something to keep it in place. The first time I used a couple of springs that I got from the autostore, about 1 dollar each or so. I attached two O screws to either side of the panel and then hooked the springs onto them and a part under the dash so the panel would spring shut. After that used a prop to keep it up.
My second attempt was using a headlight motor to make it go up and down with the ignition. It shortly got fucked up when the mount I made wasn't working too well, so I went back to my original setup with the prop.

Here's a pic, the carpet has since changed to black and the props are now very thin metal rods that you can't see. I think I'll try and modify the motor again however, it was cool having it go up and down with a switch! haha
