People with the Knockoff Type-R knobs I got a question
Ok, so i knew when i bought this thing for my GSR that it wasn't going to be the perfect fitting piece. But to me, what i have looks good with my car. But my question is if anyone did something about the large gap between the bottom of the **** and where the shift boot stops coming up. I was thinking about it, and i thought that i could just put something under the boot that would keep it up to the level of the ****, but then i realized when shifting, the boot wouldn't make it that far. Anyone have any suggestions?
if you get a short shifter it will lower your shift **** to just about where your shift boot is. my **** is just about an eight of an inch from my shift boot after i put on a dc short shifter on my 98 hatch
a simple way to fix this is to lift the shifter boot and plastic trim up and wrap some tape around the shifter pole holding the top ring closer to the shift ****. Understand??
I have one also and there is always a gap. Even on a stock Type R there is a gap like that. The best and easiest way to fix it would be to buy a short shifter.

I came up with an idea a while ago but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I have a Type R shift **** in my Civic with a short throw shifter and I was just thinking of taking the shift boot off and putting in on UPSIDE DOWN so that the ring on the top wouldn't be exposed. It's kinda hard to explain. Imagine that the ring was flipped upside down and then use a rubberband or tape to secure it underneath. Does this make sense???? Ahhhhh.....she's in storage right now so I don't have anything to reference this to......sorry.

I had and solved this problem. what I did was i got a cap to robitussin cough syrup. Wa out real well, sand the lettering off the top, and drill a hole through the top that matches the diameter of your shifter. make the hole smaller if possible. Paint the cap if you want, then slide the cap don onto your shifter. It should be a very tight fit almost as if your stretching the hole by forcing it on. Then just pull your boot around the cap. the hole of your boot should have the top folded in as if it's a hem. i have it so the "hem is holding it ontop of the cap. i also (this is kinda corny) put a ring (for your finger) around my shifter above the cap and below the **** . it makes a coll ching when i shift... but with taht aside , it is a perfect solution to a saggy boot. i've had NO problems...
damn, i hope thats your beater car because that thing is dirty. Nasty!
