is this engine better than???
first one can fit in a 4th gen civic the other can't without basic disregard for structural integrity. b16 has higher HP I believe, but not as much torque as th f22.
get the b16.
get the b16.
Yup the f22 is out of the accord and has 150hp and roughly the same torque. It will not bolt into the 4g chassis without some fab work. The f22 is a 2.2L hence the high torque.
The b16a has 160hp and 111 torque and will bolt into the 4g chassis with the aid of a mount kit. The b16a is a 1.6L.

i have a 91 honda civic hb dx and im looking to do a engine swap i got the discriptions from a JDM site and i was wondering because the f22 is cheaper maybe there is something worn i was just asking but they have the same hp 160 each. but yeha thanks.

f22 is 2.2l and has torque,,b16a is 1.6l and has no torque,,
f22 has lowend power,,B16a is all top end,,
f22 wont fit without some serious mods,,B16 fits in perfect with the correct mounts,
f22 is tilted back,,b16a sits straight,,

Yes..Any motor will fit but you need to do some serious mods to make the f22 fit..
With the b16 all you need is a mount kit and it bolts right up..
Stock dx has 92hp..

My advice is to search both here and around the internet and learn as much as you can. Then you can decide for yourself what engines are a good idea, and what you want to do.

If its torque you want get a B20 swap... Bolts in with mounts.

the first fits the second doesnt.
unless you like LOTS OF WELDING and EXPENSIVE FABRICATION WORK.
everything custom.
there are not mounts to hold the enigne in.
there are no axles to make the wheels spin.
there is no wiring to make the components power up.
there is no header that will line up with the exhaust from a 88-91 civic.
if you think the displacment will make it faster just because its bigger, then this isnt a camaro.
but if you really want a bigger engine, the b20 fits and you can actually buy the parts to do it.
also hasport just came out with K series mounts that allow those engines to be installed, and many of them have 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter versions.
its not just the size of the engine that makes it hard, its axles length, and actual mount placement that makes that f22 NOT WORTH THE TIME.
"so will it fit?" physically yes.
"will it move?" not without thousands of dollars wasted in custom parts.

If you want to go cheaper, but gain a little extra hp, then get a D16 (out of a 88-91 civic SI or CRX SI)... This motor will bolt in without mounts, but you will need some wiring work...
If you want to go B series, then do an LS/Vtec where you take the head of a B16 and mate it with the bottom end of an LS... This motor does a good job... I built one for my buddy and we put it into his 92 hatch...
