I don't think so. Should be on the exhaust manifold/header. Generally, the closer it is to the engine the better.

Stock 88-91s have it on header (upper part). I know when I bought my DC sports header it was on the downpipe of the header right next to the cat and it required me to extend my wires so I could use it.
