Default Speaker Questions (Suggestions needed)

I bought some Rockford Fosgate 6.5's to stick in my hatch, but later found out to my dismay that the magnets are too large to fit inside the door without the window smaking them. I was wondering if anyone could recomend (store or online) a set of NICE speakers that will fit inside the door speaker cones and the rear pods without modifications. I bought some crappy 20$ duals from best buy that fit in the door without problems, but i'd like something a little more substantial than them. Any suggestions would be appreciated on where to go or what to buy. I'd prefer something along the lines of a well known audio company, but all I really want is some nice speakers.

Also looking for suggestions on speakers that are KNOWN to fit, not what you think MAY fit. Because obviously not all 6.5's fit

Thanks in advance~

P.S. I searched and didn't really find what I was looking for.

pioneer 6.5 inch 3 way. nice sound, no magnet clearence issues.

not as good as those rockfords, but they will work. just run a small single sub and a high pass filter on them, they dont like below 60hz.

I dont want to go crazy on speakers but i'm willing to drop at least 100$ per pair, thats what I paid for the Rockfords.

I'd have no problem picking speakers out if all 6.5's fit, i'm just pissed that you need to find a speaker with a small magnet to fit into the front cones. Hell, even the 6.5 Rockfords I have wont fit into my rear pods without a lot of cutting (diameter is too big), which I dont want to do.

Any specific model number, or should all pioneer 6.5's fit?

I have a set of older POLK EX series for front and rear. They sound ok. But they are old too. Whatever you do, I would hook up an amp to power them. If you're looking for good sound, deck power don't cut it.

I may look into running an amp somewhere in the future, right now all I want is just some nice speakers to listen to, that I can juice up later.

I don't think you're getting what I mean. More power = better sound. The acoustics in our CRX's can be awesome. But not if you don't supply the needed power to your speakers.

You are better off buying 2 $50.00 sets of speakers and 1 $100.00 amp than buying 2 $100.00 sets of speakers and powering them with your CD player.

Take my word for it. I used to do this for a living.

No, i understand exactly what you are saying. I dont have the know-how or funds to get speakers and an amp at the moment. My plan was to get some nice speakers, deal with the deck power issue for the time being, and then upgrade to an amp later when I research them out

i have rockford fosgate 6.5' components.
i just made custom fabricated mounts. i took the stock regular mounts and cut out a shape exactly like the stock ones and made holes and than cut out a hole to mount the speaker, works mint, it was like half an inch of wood that i used to make the custom bracket.
works liek a charm. luv the compoents!!!

and it sounds much sweeter when you amp aftermarket speakers

good luck

Just modify to fit the speakers you already have. I have some Pioneer 6.5's in mine and it works fine - just had to drill some new holes to line up - no big deal.

GOOD SPEAKERS! Get the Kenwood KFC - 1979ie. They are 6.5 inch 2 way speakers that I got for 70 bucks from best buy. They come with wires, and cool faces. Have excellent highs. Not the best lows though... May want to get a sub or some bassier speakers to cover that. I have them in my Civic Hatchback and they sound great. List price is 100 bucks. Only problem is that the tweeter might push against your speaker panel too much. I just drilled out a hole the size of the tweeter. It looks rad... There is the speaker panel with a hole in the middle and the tweeter poking out. It is awesome.

I run these myself, and I can personally attest to the quality of them. I've yet to hear any 6.5" coaxial produce sound as clean as these at this price point ($115~ retail), and they do fit in your car without modification (or at least they fit in my 88 crx just fine).

The Boston Acoustics FX6-H (the H is for imports/hondas, and comes with an adapter ring that allows for easy clearance of the window. I replaced mine with an MDF ring, but the plastic one works well enough).

If you can be bothered to seal the doors with a sound dampening product (check out http://www.edesignaudio.com for some good deals), and amplify them (nine.2, made by same company), you won't be able to stop smiling. It sounds like a f'in concert.

Once summer rolls around and I pick up a second job, i'm going to get the component version of these speakers with a seperate tweeter, etc etc.

Either ways, thats my two cents. I love these speakers, and I think they are worth every cent.

Gotcha. Well, maybe check Crutchfield.com. They have some pretty decent prices on some good speakers. Just stay away from the Blaupunkt caca.
