I'm currently running GC coilovers with Koni yellows. On the front passenger side of the car, the spring seems to be rubbing against the top of the sleeve. It's like grinding the threads down. I've ran 2 different sleeves, and both of them had this problem. It's only that one sleeve also.
GC sells a top mount that eliminates this, but I think it's recommended for track use, plus it reduces the amount of shock travel you have.
anyway, what are your front rates and how low are you?

I have the GC top mounts already. Running 450 in the front, dropped ~2 inch

The race mounts, or the travel extension mounts?

when you lowered down the car the spring probably was ****-eyed and from the weight of the car pushing the spring in to the rubber it just stayed ****-eyed.
He must be using the "extended travle" mounts. I had the same problem with my OEM shock style ground controls. It's caused by the upper mount not pivoting with the shock as the suspension moves through its range. The spring is forced into an "S" shape, and this allows it to rub the sleeve. It is gonna happen if your car is pretty low (which I think sucks).
Once I switched to Koni shocks and the matching GC baby tubes (smaller diameter), the problem was solved. The "race" style upper mounts would fix it too since it allows the whole upper mount to pivot, but you would loose your extended shock travel.
