no. What makes you think that it will. It doesnt change anything, just the length of your throw. I've had one for a year with no problems, just fun driving.

the change in throw makes the difference. you have to shift slower to match the stock shifter movement or you are still forcing the synchros to work faster.

Correct. You shouldn't be buying a short shifter if you want to shift faster because shifting faster than your stock shifter is already capable of will result in increased syncro wear. The faster you shift, the less time your synchros have to work effectively. So if you shift the exact same way you would with your normal stock shifter I don't see how a short shifter could cause any excessive wear on your synchros. Only when you abuse the ability to shift faster with the shorter shift throws do you put additional strain on your synchros.

 

how can I tell if im shifting too fast?

 

check your blinker fluid? grinding is usually a good indicator
